We thank you for worshipping with us. Following the life and teachings of Jesus, we are a church that

Starting Sunday, June 7th, we will begin our
normal summer schedule of one service only at 10:00 am.
Our fall schedule of two Sunday services, at 9:00 and 11:00 am,
will commence on September 13th.
Adult Forum Today: Russell Learned, Bob McCracken and Mark Waldo will discuss Solar
Energy and FCCOL's solar project. May 10: Mother's Day - No Forum. May 17: Frida
Berrigan will speak about her new book: "It Runs In The Family: On Being Raised By
Radicals and Growing Into Rebellious Motherhood."
New Members It is our custom to receive new members twice a year – in May and again
next fall. If you have been attending, or visiting, and would like to talk about membership
(ask any question you might have), Steve, Carleen or Chris would love the opportunity to sit
down over a cup of coffee and chat! Please call any one of us and let’s set up a time and
place. Our May date for receiving new members is May 10th. The new members orientation
meeting will be Tuesday, May 5th, at 7:00 pm in the Sheffield Auditorium.
The LBS continues its monthly series of
Ladies Benevolent Society May Luncheon
luncheons and programs at noon on Tuesday, May 5, with a luncheon in Fellowship Hall.
Around 1 pm, church historians Betsey Webster and Carolyn Wakeman will speak about the
recent creation of the Church Archives and new discoveries about the origins of its dedicated
Ladies Benevolent Society. The talk on the historic grounds surrounding the Meetinghouse at
the corner of Lyme Street and Ferry Road, previously scheduled for May 12th, will be
rescheduled in the fall. Admission to the Luncheon is $5 plus canned goods for the Food
Pantry. Please call the church office at 860-434-8686 by Monday, May 4, to reserve a place.
Hunger along the Shoreline Children & adults in our own community go hungry everyday.
Find out why & what you can do to help. Lyme-Old Lyme HS is hosting a Hunger Banquet
on Wednesday, May 6, at 6:00 pm; a unique way for the whole family to understand hunger
and ways to help end it. All are welcome. Small donation requested. Proceeds to Shoreline

Book Study Group on "Where the Heart Is" by Billie Letts Join us on Thursday, May
7th, at 10:30 am in the library for a discussion of this wonderful little novel. It was published
in 1996, so it’s possible that you might have read it some time ago. But it would be a treat to
re-read it. We'll interface the novel with some passages from the New Testament, and explore
the ways in which the life of Novalee Nation, the protagonist, brings to life some Biblical
truths we all hold dear. Martha Beaudoin and Carleen Gerber will lead the discussion.
CELEBRATING 350 YEARS OF OUR HISTORY The Senior Choir will perform
Vivaldi’s Gloria on Sunday, May 31st, at 4:00 pm. Please save the date and join us to
celebrate our 350th Anniversary with this important event.

To respond to the recent devastating earthquake in Nepal, we are continuing collection
for One Great Hour of Sharing. This important fund is administered through the
National Council of Churches and enables a quick response to natural and
humanitarian disasters world-wide. Last year we raised almost $10,000 for OGHS.
If you have not yet made a contribution, and wish to do so, there are envelopes in the
pews, vestibule and coffee hour or you may send a check to our office, made out to
FCCOL, with a memo designation to OGHS Easter Collection.
Growing Through Grief C. S. Lewis said, "Grief is like a long, winding valley where any
bend may reveal a totally new landscape." The next Growing Through Grief meeting will be
on May 22nd at 10 a.m in the Library. Come share the journey with others on the path. If

Green Grass Journey Our annual trip to Green Grass, South Dakota, is set for June 23rd July 2nd. This year marks our 30th year of partnership, so there is much to celebrate!

Care Givers Group There are some in our fellowship who shoulder the responsibility of
caring for a family member or friend. We have a time to get together to offer encouragement
and perhaps help one another along this journey of care giving. Our next meeting will be
Wednesday, May 13, at 10:30 am in the Hoag Parlor. Carleen will be there to convene the
meeting, which should be about one hour long. Please call Carleen with any thoughts or

Prayer Shawl Ministry Meets May 19 Whether you’re an old pro or a first-time knitter,
you’re invited to crochet or knit shawls that can be given by our ministers to those in hospital
or needing the comforting tangible sign of our faith community’s love and healing prayers.
Join us at 4 pm on May 19 in Hoag Parlor for an opportunity to have all prayer shawl creators
(or those with an interest) gather for a time of sharing ideas and fellowship. See or contact

White Elephant Sale Get out your calendars out and mark these dates, Friday, July 10th,
from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm and Saturday, July 11th, from 8:00 am - Noon. This is a good time of
the year to sort through the cellar and attic to put aside some of those treasures for this year’s
sale. Hold those goodies until the first intake day, Thursday, June 26th.
Help wanted: Coffee & Donuts, Kitchen, Toys and Pots and Pans all need co-chairs and dept
help - please volunteer.
Intake needs a daily staff of 8-10 folks to unload cars and sort donations 6/25 to 7/3 from 9-2
pm (except for Sunday 6/28). Please call the office, 860-434-8686, press option #5 and
volunteer - it will help us to ensure daily staffing needs. All are welcome for as long as you
can stay, even if you just drop in and help. Great way to meet folks and see what the WES is
