Jag students to conduct interview workshop April 16
“If you think you’ll ever need to get a job,
this interview workshop will prepare you for the
interview process,” said Jeff Boren, Jobs for
America’s Graduate specialist at Fontainebleau
High School.
Jag students will be conducting an interview workshop during 2nd and 3rd periods on
Thursday, April 16, 2015. The workshop will include demonstrations about how to properly dress
for an interview, what questions to plan to answer,
and other details about the interview process to
help individuals stand out from the rest of the candidates applying for jobs.
The first half of the workshop will feature
Jag students sharing what they have learned in the
Jag program about getting jobs. There will be skits
demonstrating good and bad interviews followed
by some participant practice answering common
interview questions.
The second half of the workshop will feature local Jag partners who are businessmen in the
community. They will conduct interviews with the
workshop participants and assess each interview
with points scored for appearance, communication
skills, opening and closing. Participants will complete several interviews during the hour. Their assessments will be totaled and the highest scoring
participants will receive gift cards to local businesses. Gift card amounts will be determined
based on the number of participants in the workshop.
This is an active participation workshop.
“You won’t be sitting and listening for two hours,”
Boren said. “I’m proud that my Jag students have
planned and organized this event to share what
they have learned. I don’t have any students unemployed that want to be employed so what they will
share will help anyone present compete in a difficult job market.”
There is a limited enrollment in the workshop. Seniors will be given priority, followed by
juniors, sophomores and freshmen. A registration
fee of $5 is required to secure a seat in the seminar. Deadline for registering is April 10. You can
register in room 918 or at a table during lunch
April 8-10.
Jag students prepare all the slogan
banners to decorate the stage. With
this community service project, Jag
students have passed the 1000 man
hour goal we set to start the year.
The interview workshop will add to
that community service work

counselor for additional information.
If you have completed your postsecondary

to confirm that the admissions office has received all of your required information. Some
universities send e-mails to notify the student
if something is missing from their file, but not
all universities do.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID??
Complete the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) at the following website: www.fafsa.gov. This is the form you
complete to be considered for pell grants,

FAFSA on the Web Worksheets in the
school counseling office to use as a guide in
completing the online application. Seniors who
are applying to an out of state or private
school may need to complete an additional
form called the CSS/Financial Aid Profile. If
you are not sure, please check with the individual colleges and ask about their deadlines.
Please make sure to list a Louisiana school

SAR and make any necessary changes or corrections. The colleges you list on your FAFSA
will get your SAR data electronically.

FHS is packed with GREAT LEADERS!
Student council invited all teachers, administrators and counselors to nominate one student that they
believed possessed the qualities of being a great leader. They are asked to nominate a student and provide a reason why. Student council collects the nominations, makes goodie bags for the nominees, and places the
teacher nomination with the reason in the bag. I have to say, when the students read the nominations, their faces
light up. It is such a positive experience for the students. Student council then sends a breakfast invitation to the
nominees, and on the day of the breakfast the nominated students are called to the cafeteria where they receive
their goodie bag with the nomination form and breakfast from the cafeteria. Student council pays for all!

What it means to make HISTORY 2015.
It means I walked the halls of FHS,
Proud and confident I was part of the best.
I’ve cheered, studied, laughed and guessed,
I’ve been tested, encouraged, and even blessed.
After all I was a Bulldog at FHS.
What it means to make HISTORY 2015.
It means I have the makings to change the world,
My sight & visions are undeterred.
Road blocks, brick walls are not the end,
Only opportunities to circumvent.
It’s my courage that counts in failure and success,
I will prevail, as I’ve been groomed to do my best.
The next chapter of life I have enrolled,
Keep stepping, don’t give up, I will reach my goal.
I have character, strength, and self-esteem,
I am prepared no matter the scene.
I made HISTORY 2015
