2015 FHS Summer School
What is the purpose of summer school?
Groton Public School offers a summer school program for Credit Recovery courses, Enrichment courses, and a limited
opportunity for advancement courses. Credit Recovery will be given first priority, followed by enrichment courses, and
advancement courses. *Specific criteria, required substantiation, and written approval from sending school
administration is needed for approval of enrollment in advancement course.
What is the instructional Delivery Model?
The Virtual Learning Academy web based instruction is the primary delivery model. A teacher will be available during
the summer school sessions and online to support students with any questions and to monitor academic progress.
Teacher will conduct daily and weekly check-ins with individual students and communicate with parents as needed to
monitor student achievement.

Where: Fitch Senior High School Media Center
When: July 6, 2015 – July 31, 2015
Time: 9:00 AM to 11:00 Monday – Friday

2015 FHS Summer School Policy
The Fitch Senior High School handbook rules are in effect while summer school is in session. Please refer to the
website for a copy of the hand-book. Standards of dress remain the same as those during the regular school
year. Fitch Senior High school reserves the right to dismiss any student for just cause. Dismissal of a student
will result in forfeiture of tuition. Fighting, possession of weapons, and possession and/or use and/or sale of
drugs/alcohol will result in immediate dismissal from summer school. If warranted, the police department will
be contacted.
Summer school classes cover a great deal of material in a short period of time. Below are the FHS Summer
school program guidelines and expectations to support student success during the summer school sessions.

Maximum enrollment of 2 courses per student recommended

Students will be required to attend summer school sessions daily during assigned hours and must
complete the coursework according to teacher expectations.

Students are required to complete 18 units to earn 1 credit per course

All course-work must be successfully completed by July 31, 2015.

Completion of course-work includes all online and in-class lessons / modules and other requirements.
Requirements for enrollment in Summer School courses
1. COMPLETED REGISTRATION FORMS 1-3 and 4 if Reduced pricing applies
2. REQUIRED SIGNATURES ON THE REGISTRATION FORM BY STUDENT AND PARENT IS TO SHOW THAT
BOTH HAVE REVIEWED THE SUMMER SCHOOL COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS.
3. PAYMENT MUST BE INCLUDED WITH REGISTRATION
*REINBURSEMENT: REINBURSEMENT OF SUMMER SCHOOL FEES WILL BE GRANTED PRIOR TO JULY 6, 2015
