This position will work collaboratively with the Gateway
Health Health Promotion team and HP funded agencies of
the Central Hume Primary Care Partnerships (CHPCP) to
realise the objectives of the Hume Region: CHPCP Healthy
Eating Plan 2012 – 2017.
Position Context
The position is principally to act as a resource person to
local businesses in their efforts to become health promoting
workplaces for their employees. The position is responsible
for the engagement, recruitment and support of local
businesses undertaking the Victorian Health Workplace

Achievement Program. The position will also be the lead in
promoting this program at Gateway Health Wangaratta.
The position will also be required to work across other
settings (early childhood services and schools) where
appropriate. As well as contribute to other aspects of the
CHPCP Healthy Eating Plan 2012 – 2017.
Organisation Context
Gateway Health is a not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee and a registered
Community Health Service under the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic).
The Board of Governance provides strategic planning for Gateway Health.
consists of 9 elected members.
The Board
The Board has delegated the operational management of the Agency to the Chief Executive
Officer.
Executive staff are accountable to the Chief Executive Officer and provide direction, support
and leadership to staff.
The Executive comprises;
- Chief Executive Officer
- General Manager Client Services
- General Manager Clinical Services
Program Managers provide immediate support and management within their program areas.
There are nine clinical and client program areas.
Corporate services are delivered through five key areas (Finance, Payroll, Information
Communications Technology, Human Resources and Quality & Safety).

This position description will be reviewed annually (June 30 each year), when the position
becomes vacant or as deemed necessary.

Qualifications & Conditions:

Selection Criteria:
Essential:

Relevant experience and/or qualification in a health related field
such as Health Promotion, Public Health, Allied Health or Social
Science
Desirable:

Previous experience in and knowledge of workplace employee
health and wellbeing initiatives is highly desirable.
Ability to use health promotion and community development
approaches to strengthen community participation and
ownership and create environments and settings which promote
health.
Ability to design, implement and evaluate health promotion
activities.
Ability to inform and mobilise individuals and communities by
using appropriate media, community resources and social
marketing.
Ability to develop and maintain partnerships that support the
delivery of health promotion initiatives.
Sound organisational and time management skills
High level of written communication skills and strong information
technology skills







Salary packaging as per agency agreement

3. ADMINISTRATION & DOCUMENTATION
Through the use of the organisational processes ensure that all administration and documentation requirements
are initiated and completed in a professional and timely manner.
 Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures
and work practices that support the efficient operation of the organisation.
 Ensure that all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely
manner.
 Input statistical data using relevant data bases to meet agreed timelines.

4. TECHNICAL SKILLS & APPLICATION.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of the skills required for this position. This includes knowledge and
understanding of appropriate equipment, legislation, policies and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of key legislation and policy documents inclusive of:
 Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2011-2015
 Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008
 Victorian Health Priorities Framework 2011-2022
 Department of Health Hume Region – Integrated Health Promotion Strategy 2012-2017
 Undertake literature review for the purpose of identifying validated tools or evidence
based interventions
 To prepare reports
 To participate in community engagement activities
 To develop and maintain partnerships
