SEXUAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
The Gay Men’s Health Service (GMHS) HSE and our
partners Gay Health Network (GHN), with the support
of the Department of Health, the HSE’s National Directorate
“Health and Wellbeing”, and “Primary Care and Mental
Health” is pleased to announce the 13th Annual Gay Health
Forum (GHF13) on Friday 5th June, at The Printworks,
Dublin Castle.

Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM) are recognised as a
key target group for HIV prevention, sexual health awareness
and care and support services. GMHS, GHN, the HSE and
the Department of Health endorse this by holding the
Annual Gay Health Forum.
The GHF 13 theme ‘Empowering: Sexual Health and
Well-Being’, reflects the Healthy Ireland Framework of Actions
- Empowering People and Communities, Partnerships and
Cross-Sectoral Work and Research and Evidence.
GHF13 provides an important platform for presentations from
recent clinical audits, research and surveillance reports on HIV
and STIs.

partnership, testing at GOSHH in Limerick and the USI and
the HSE Crisis Pregnancy Programme pilot testing initiative
at colleges as part of SHAG week.
Featured also will be presentations on the LGV Control
Group, trends at GMHS and other STI/GUM Clinics.
Community initiatives and partnerships on ‘sexual health
awareness and support’ among MSM both in Ireland and
abroad from; GMHS, Positive Now, BeLonG To, Gay
Switchboard Ireland and Islington MIND UK. A special
presentation on MSM and bio-medical HIV prevention
(PrEP and TasP): Where do we go from here? by Senior
Lecturer Public Health , The Open University UK.
The Noel Walsh 7th Memorial Presentation will feature
presentations on the;
•National Sexual Health Communications & Partnership led by the Crisis Pregnancy Programme
•‘BELONGTO YES’ Marriage Equality Campaign.
•MSM Internet Survey Ireland (MISI) 2015: Overall
response, and next steps in analysis and presentation
of the findings.
GHF 13 presents an opportunity for those involved in clinical
and community service provision, public health, surveillance,
protection and promotion, and for those involved in HIV,
sexual health and other health-related work, to network,
share and acknowledge all our efforts in advancing the
health and well being of the MSM and LGBT communities.
•GMSS 2014 UK: HIV Prevention Objectives among
MSM in England.

•The Road Travelled: marking the 30 years since the birth
of Gay Health Action (GHA) the first AIDS action group in Ireland.
Contributions from community-based initiatives will be
central to the event, including presentations on communitybased HIV and STI testing services from GMHS Outreach
