These days are precious and most memorable days of your ward’s childhood. Someone has rightly said, ”Children will not remember their parents for gifts they shower upon them but will always cherish the time they spent with their little ones. So spend quality time with your ward, take them out for adventurous activities, explore their talent, encourage them to take up a hobby or refreshing sport. It’s time to nurture young minds, inculcate moral values and narrate family anecdotes to keep them in touch with their roots. Parents are requested to give a lot of colouring practice to children for developing their gross motor skills. Shhw-nur Page 1 Parents must encourage children to:• • • • • • • Meditate or do simple yoga exercises as physical activities/exercises are essential for growth and development. Learn to dress yourself, button your shirt and tie your shoe laces on your own. Be close to nature by watering the plants and feeding the birds. Go for a morning walk along with them . Watch interesting programmes such as “Animal Planet” , ”Discovery Channel”, ”National Geographic Channel” and Cartoon Network etc. And ask questions about these programmes. Practice a lot of free hand drawing of lines, patterns and shapes. Revise Shapes - circle, square, rectangle, triangle, semi-circle. Colours : red, yellow, blue, orange, brown. PROJECT: • To make a Pictionary for recognition of letters and vocabulary development with the help of parents. MATERIAL REQUIRED: • Old Photo album • Coloured pastel sheets • Scissors • Fevicol • Cut out of pictures of all the letters from A to Z • Markers/Sketch pens STEPS FOR MAKING THE PICTIONARY 1. Cut pastel sheets according to the size of the photo album. 2. Write Aa on the first pastel sheet and paste 3 pictures starting with letter Aa on it e.g: Aa APPLE AEROPLANE Shhw-nur Page 2 3. On the back side of the same sheet do the same for letter Bb and similarly for all the letters. 4. After completing it for all 26 letters ,fix the sheets in the photo album. 5. Prepare the cover page of the Pictionary as MY PICTIONARY ABC NAME: CLASS: 6. Now paste this sheet on the top of the photo album. 7. Your Pictionary is ready. CONVERSATION:• Encourage your child to speak in English .Teach him/her one new sentence everyday. • Encourage your child to do lot of picture reading which will help in improving his/her vocabulary & conversation. Shhw-nur Page 13 BEAT THE HEAT WITH THIS SUMMER COOL DRINK CITRUS ORANGE COOLER Ingredients • • • • • • • 2 lemons, juice only 1 lemon, thinly sliced orange nectar cloudy lemonade/soda a few sliced strawberry sparkling water mint sprigs Directions To make Citrus Orange Cooler :- 1. Help your child to put the lemon juice into a large jug and tell him/her to add the sliced lemon , and a handful of ice cubes. Tell him/her to add orange nectar to fill about one-third of the jug and top up to fill with lemonade. 2. Help him/her to add the strawberries and top up with sparkling water and mint sprigs.
