Rural Ambassador Competition
General Information:
We welcome your interest in becoming an entrant
in the 2015 Gin Gin Rural Ambassador Competition
and Fundraiser Competition. The aim of the Rural
Ambassador Awards is to highlight the
importance of young people in rural and
regional Queensland, in particular those
associated with the Agricultural Show
movement. The award identifies those people
actively involved in their local Show, who have
a sound knowledge of current rural issues
affecting their local areas, Queensland and
Australia and have a strong affiliation with
agriculture. Being a Rural Ambassador means
being involved in the local Show and agricultural
movement; presenting prizes, sashing livestock,
generally being in the public eye, mingling with the
crowd and helping getting potential entrants for
the following years competition.

The award seeks young people who symbolise the
rural spirit - people with vitality who are forward thinking and with a passion for
the land and local agricultural shows.
The competition is run on four levels, the local Show winner progresses to a SubChamber final where the winner competes in the State Final held during the Royal
Queensland Show (EKKA). The winner of the State Final then competes at the
National Final held at a State Royal Show. This is a national competition, but with
New Zealand joining in 2008 it has since expanded to an international status.
The Rural Ambassador Competition is open to males and females, twenty
to thirty years of age who have a strong commitment to the rural
industries and an involvement and passion for the Agricultural Show
movement.
In regards to the fundraiser competition this is not compulsory for entrants however
this is a competition open to all entrants from both the Miss Showgirl and the Rural
Ambassador sections for the award of Miss/Mr Fundraiser. Any money raised by the
entrants will go towards further improvement and development of the show along
with the show ground facilities.
Show Ball Dress Code
The Show Ball is a formal night and entrants should
dress appropriately for this occasion. Shirt and Tie
as a minimum for male entrants and long dresses
are recommended for female entrants. Standard of
dress should reflect the formal occasion of the
show. You are requested to attend a
deportment/etiquette training class this is for both
male & females (dates & times to be advised)
Formal Judging Interview Guidelines
Interviews will be held on the morning of the Show

Ball 16th May 2015 (location and time to be
Mittelheuser and 2014 Gin Gin Miss Showgirl advised). Interviews will take approximately

15mins each.
Types of questions asked by you in the interview can include, information about
yourself, your ambitions in life, knowledge of local area, current issues affecting Gin
Gin and basic knowledge of the show.
Example of Questions:
 What attractions in you region would you take a visitor from interstate to see?
 What is your favourite part of the Gin Gin Show?
 Why do you want to be Gin Gin Rural Ambassador?
