Glendale’s Cudd Families
Census Enumerators listed names and dates as they understood the registrant who oft times
had little or no education which led to numerous errors in names, dates and ages. I have tried
to copy the census as recorded, where errors occur, I apologize. Death certificates are not
available in Spartanburg for years before 1917 and Obituaries have not been put on
microfilm for the years 1924 through 1929.

The 1910 Spartanburg Township Census show that James and Elizabeth had been married
25 years and were the parents of 11 children, 9 living.

Obituary records show that;
Joe C. Cudd died at the age of 76 in October, 1964.
Joe was a WW1 Veteran.
Emma Reinard Cudd died at the age of 82 in August, 1970.
They are buried in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, S. C.

Edna Wingo Cudd died at the age of 88 in January, 1984.

Emma Louise Cudd O’Sullivan died at the age of 69 in May, 1997.
George Wallace O’Sullivan died at the age of 91 in July, 2012.

Ann Cudd first married Morris Hayes Mittag, son of George and Elsie Mittag.

After the death of Morris, Ann Cudd Mittag married Robert Cannon.
Robert Allen Cannon died at the age of 64 in June, 1989.
Ann Cudd Mittag Cannon died at the age of 81 in April, 2011.

A Julius Johnson died at the age of 54 in July, 1950. I was unable to verify if this was Etta’s
husband.

Writer’s comments; I knew a most of the members of the Cudd families. They were typical
hard working factory workers, honest, friendly and straightforward in their relationships.
Some were members of the Methodist Church, The Wesleyan Church and the Baptist
Church here at Glendale.
Charles Corn who married Helen Cudd was this writer’s first cousin. He was a peach of a
guy. He and his family were most active in the Glendale Baptist Church before moving from
Glendale a few years before his death.
