Panzura GFS Cloud Controller Series
The Panzura Global File System (GFS) connect users in different offices
around the world and lets them collaborate like they’re in the same room on
the same files and applications at the same time. It eliminates the “file open”
problem for CAD or similar applications, giving users NAS-like performance
at every office. It’s as fast as a local file server in every office, but users are all
accessing the same files -- no matter where they’re based.
•
Intelligent caching. Active data is cached on flash storage in
each controller, speeding up performance when users access
data.
•
Cloud-backed. The Panzura GFS connects to a public
or private cloud of your choice and uses it to store the
authoritative copy of all your files.
The Panzura Global File System looks just like a global, locking Windows filer
to users, but is backed by a central cloud repository and can span dozens of
sites. It’s simpler, faster and less expensive than putting traditional storage at
each site and running WAN optimization over private networks.
•
One tier of storage. Since all of your data lives in the cloud,
it’s automatically protected by your cloud provider. No more
backup, no more tape.
•
Deduplication and compression. This means much more
efficient storage, more room for files, less data sent over your
network and best of all -- lower cloud storage costs.
•
Global snapshots. We snapshot the entire file system so
there’s no need to manage snapshots on a volume or share
basis. We support up to 10,000 snapshots, or 1 per day for
27 years.
•
Security three letter agencies trust. Our customers include
the U.S. Department of Justice and NIST, the organization
that certifies FIPS. Why? Panzura is FIPS 140-2 certified with
AES-256 bit encryption, so your data is secure at rest and inflight, whether it’s on a local controller or in the cloud.
The Panzura GFS runs on the Panzura GFS Cloud Controllers and connects
to public or private cloud storage of your choice. The GFS features include:
•
Global file and element locking. Part of Panzura’s magic is
file locking. It lets users from New York, Paris and London all
work together like they’re in the same room.
•
File integrity everywhere. Global file locking also makes
sure files are locked when they’re in use so you don’t have
to worry about corrupt files or managing different versions.
•
Global metadata. Each controller has a copy of the metadata
for every file, making file access and locking fast for every
user.

Panzura GFS Controller Models:
A Panzura GFS Cloud Controller is installed at each site connected to the GFS. The Panzura Cloud Controller is available as a physical or virtual appliance
in different configurations, designed for everything from branch offices with light usage to offices with large project teams working on complex CAD
or BIM models. All Panzura GFS Cloud Controllers use solid state drives (SSD) to assure fast file access.
•
The GFS-2800 series controllers are designed for small and medium office environments, and can support up to 800 active users each.
•
The GFS-4000 series controllers are the performance workhorses of our lineup and are designed for medium to large offices with up to 1,000
active users each.
•
The GFS-VM series controllers can run on your existing infrastructure, and can be sized based on your environment. VM controllers can
support up to 500 active users each.
