Priority is given to students from Grace, although Lutherans in Carroll and Baltimore Counties are eligible. You can obtain the packet of application materials from the church office. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2015. Grace Lutheran Church also offers scholarships to active members of the congregation who are attending college, community college, professional schools and trade schools. Information about the scholarships, application process and application requirements can be obtained from the church office by emailing [email protected]. The application deadline is July 1, 2015. 3 Thursday Book Club After a few months of vacation, the Thursday Book Club is returning in June and July. The Book Club will meet on June 11 & 25 as well as on July 9 & 23. Two opportunities will be offered each of those days: 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm or 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. We will be reading Sue Monk Kidd’s newest novel, “The Invention of Wings.” This wonderful new book is the story of two American girls who grow to be great women during the early nineteenth Century. Handful, a slave girl, becomes Sarah’s handmaiden, whether Sarah likes it or not. The story follows their lives over the next thirty-five years. While having very different experiences and perspectives on life, their lives intersect and impact one another in tremendous ways. It is a story that is hard to put down and won’t be soon forgotten after reading it! The books are here! If you would like a book, please see Pastor Martha or stop by the church office. The cost of the book is $12.00. If you’ve never joined the Thursday Book Club at Grace, this summer might be the perfect time to give it a try!!! Please read Part One and Two for our first session. *********** Red Cross Blood Drive The next blood drive will be held on Monday, July 13 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. *********** Timber Ridge Ice Cream Social and Open House Timber Ridge and Ridge Residences are hosting an Ice Cream Social and Open House on Sunday, June 7 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Community Center, located at 101 Timber Ridge Drive. Enjoy ice cream, cookies, and beverages and the Westminster Municipal Band. The event will be held rain or shine. Parking is available on Bishop Street, Stoner Avenue, at Change, and at the Senior Center. Bring a lawn chair and friends. All are welcome! *********** June 5 – 6:30 p.m. – Quiet Evenings Please join us for an evening of calm and quiet as we open ourselves to God's presence in our lives. If weather permits, there will be the option of outdoor prayer stations along with prayer stations, meditation, centering prayer, and other reflective options. *********** Preparation for Adult Baptism Are you an adult who has not yet been baptized? This summer, Pastor Martha will be offering Preparation for Adult Baptism. It is anticipated that the preparation will involve several conversations that explore topics such as: What is the Bible? What is Baptism? What roles do the Sacraments play in our faith? What is a daily Walk with God? Conversations will be tailor made for those who are participating.
