Homemaker Community Day
Homemaker Day and Food Chairman Julie Bates, along with Environment, Housing & Energy
Chairman Judy Judy, Creative Arts Chairman Harlene Welch and committees invite everyone to come out to
the annual Harrison County Homemaker Community Day celebration on Friday, May 8th from 9 a.m. until
2 p.m. at the Courthouse Square. Visit vendor booths, the Make-it Take-it Craft table and enjoy a steak
sandwich or hamburger cooked by the Harrison County Beef Cattle Association. If you are donating food or
plant items, please deliver them by 10 a.m. and remember to bring a lawn chair. Please remember to label
items with names and prices; keep in mind that cakes and pies sell well as do homemade rolls; and package
cookies and bars 3 to 5 to a bag. Also indicate if nuts, peanuts, wheat, etc. are included in the recipe so that
individuals with allergies can be advised.
This event is sponsored by the Harrison County Extension Homemakers
and the Harrison County Beef Cattle Association.
**Blood Drive will be held 1:30 - 5 p.m. at the Extension Office**

Hospice Pillow Project
Friday, June 12, 2016
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
International Sewing Day
Participating with the Hospice Pillow Project is a very
rewarding experience. At the last session in March,
138 pillows were completed with ~50 more stuffed
and ready to be sewn. You do not have to know how
to sew! Maybe you are a great pillow stuffer! Please
consider volunteering for this very worthwhile cause.
The International committee will be sewing
Pillowcase dresses and T-shirt dresses at the
Harrison County Extension Office on Friday,
June 19, 2015 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Workshops
Due to the low attendance at the monthly workshops, the Cultural Arts Committee has decided to
cancel the monthly creative arts workshops for the upcoming year. The basket making classes will
continue as well as the foot stool making class. The committee is willing to consider suggestions for
cultural/creative art classes submitted during the year.
In lieu of the monthly classes, the Committee would like to do a homemaker project to honor at least
one, maybe two veterans, depending on your response. The Committee would like to make a Quilt of
Valor as specified by the Quilt of Valor Foundation (QVOF.org). The Committee would like to have
the quilt presented to a veteran on November 11, 2015, Veterans Day. More information will be
printed in an upcoming newsletter.
