Small Animal Care – Pet Visiting Rabbits
Minimum 2 hours/week (Shifts available Monday-Sunday)
Reports to Manager of Humane Education and Pet Visiting
The HBSPCA is seeking a Volunteer, Small Animal Care to provide kennel care and socialization for three
pet visiting rabbits at the HBSPCA.
The Successful Candidate
 Is comfortable working directly with pet companion animals
 Is available for one or more 2 hour shifts a week
 Thrives in a team environment inclusive of volunteers, staff and experts committed to
maintaining a best practice shelter environment
 Is passionate about animal welfare
Key Responsibilities
 Feed the rabbits
 Socialize the rabbits providing touch time as well as play time in an exercise pen
 Clean the rabbit cages and refresh bedding
Required Skills, Experience and Behaviours
 18 years of age or older
 Works independently in a structured environment
 Diligent compliance with guidelines and protocols for personal and animal safety
 Understands basic animal behavior and recognizes stress signals in rabbits (training available).
 Excellent attendance record
