Live Auction
Today’s live auction features a special collection straight from the wineries. Representatives from the
winery will personalize the bottles for the successful bidder and each lucky winner will have his or
her photo taken with the vintner for a complete once-in-a-lifetime experience!
1 - Magnum Peay Vineyards Estate Chardonnay 2012
1
estimated value: $125
Peay Vineyards is a partnership between Vanessa Wong, and
Andy and Nick Peay and we are so glad that Andy Peay is
joining us for his first Heart’s Delight. They make wine from
a cold, marginal site on the extreme Sonoma Coast four miles
from the Pacific Ocean. Founded in 1998, this remote 48acre hilltop vineyard is located above a river gorge in the far northwestern corner of the
Sonoma Coast. The property was originally an apple orchard known as the Peterson
Ranch. The Peay brothers bought the 280 acres of land in 1996. Winemaker Vanessa
Wong, Nick’s wife, left her position as winemaker at Peter Michael Winery in 2001
to dedicate her efforts to launching Peay Vineyards. Wineries on her resume include
Lafite-Rothschild, Domaine Jean Gros, Franciscan Estates in addition to Peter Michael.
Andy brings an Estate Chardonnay with him today for auction, they grow 7 clones
of Chardonnay on 7 of the chilliest acres in the vineyard. They farm an assortment
of Old Wente and Dijon clonal selections of Chardonnay. Regardless of clone, Peay
Chardonnays have a distinct signature that can best be described as a combination of
chalky, citrus, apple and pear notes combined with vibrant energy from the brisk acidity.
These are not rich, buttery and fat Chardonnay.
1 - Magnum Banshee Rice-Spivak Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012
2
34
estimated value: $150
We welcome Noah Dorrance for his first Heart’s Delight and
we are so glad he is offering his 2012 Rice-Spivak Vineyard
Pinot Noir. To quote Noah, “We’ve been so excited about
this wine it feels as if we’ve been waiting forever to release it
to you. Each dip of the thief into the barrel has elicited the
desire to share it with everyone around. After nearly 20 months in barrel and another
four in bottle, the time has finally come. For us, the 2012 Rice-Spivak is one of those
benchmark wines that is at once remarkably appealing immediately, yet retains the
intensity and structure to age effortlessly for many years to come. We believe that if
properly stored, this is a 20+ year wine…if we can keep our hands off it.” Here is the
chance to get yours!
1 - Magnum Soliste Sonatera Vineyard Pinot Noir 2010
3
estimated value: $200
We are also excited to welcome Claude and Elisabeth
Koeberle for their first Heart’s Delight. They bring with
them a Sonatera Vineyard MonoClone®. Starting with the
2009 vintage they decided to return to the roots of Burgundy
and the craftsmanship of the Cistercian monks of Vougeot to focus on single clones
from single vineyards and matured in single cooperage. Their limited production
MonoClone pinot noirs reflect their commitment to harness the purity and complexity
of one clone from one vineyard. The 2010 Sonatera Pinot Noir’s is described, as the
wine evolves in the glass or decanter, the aromatics become more virile and muscular
with intense dark fruit, the always-present dark wild cherries, laced with oriental spices
and cocoa nibs. Sonatera is a spicy mouthful of wild cherry and plum compote, violets,
licorice, exotic spices and earthy truffles. The tannins are extremely polished and well
integrated to enhance the spice and herbal undertones, which creates a sense of weight
and fattiness. The finish is more reflective of the bright acidity found in red fruit such
as raspberries, which bring in harmonious and refreshing aromatics of tart strawberry
rhubarb laced with coffee ground and cocoa nibs. – winemaker’s tasting notes
1 - Magnum Young Inglewood Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
4
estimated value: $220
Welcome back to Scott Young – this is his second Heart’s
Delight. In 2010, the season ended with a cool and even
finish, allowing our grapes to reach maturity with slightly
higher natural acidity and lower potential alcohol than in
years with more sustained heat. Selection in the vineyard resulted in lower yields, but
excellent quality, and wines of a more restrained and elegant style. Black plum in
color, the 2010 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon greets the nose with aromas of blackcurrant,
cloves, and leather. On the palate, dark chocolate, crême de cassis, plums, and roast
meat flavors regale the senses. Silky tannins, vanilla, and spice from oak aging provide
balance without dominating. The whole transitions to a long, seamless finish meant to
be savored. Decant and enjoy, or add to your cellar collection.

1 - Double Magnum Fisher Vineyards Coach Insignia Cabernet
Sauvignon 2007
5
estimated value: $400
This is Fisher Vineyards’ 4th year at Heart’s Delight but
Rob Fisher’s first time – he is taking over for his sister,
Cameron. The Coach Insignia honors their family’s tradition
of craftsmanship, first represented in fine automobiles of
the 20th century with Body by Fisher and now in Fisher
Vineyards’ wines of the 21st century. The Coach Insignia Cabernet represents the
pinnacle of their winemaking craft, comprised of the finest selected lots of Bordeaux
varietals from our Napa Valley Estate. The 2007 offers complex aromas of blackberry,
cedar, forest floor, cocoa powder, pencil shavings, candied violet and cardamom spice
emanate from the glass. On entry this wine is unctuous - flavors of black cherry, sweet
vanilla, dark chocolate and plum combine with a viscous mid-palate texture; layers of
fine grain tannins follow and crescendo into a forty-five second finish. Truly a dense,
seamless Cabernet that shows beautifully now, but also boasts the best qualities to age
extremely well.
1 - Double Magnum Tablas Creek Vineyards Esprit de Tablas
2012 – plus the artistry of Danny Haas
estimated value: $300
6
36
A special treat for us this year - Jason Haas is here for his
first Heart’s Delight along with our longtime friend and his
brother, Danny Haas. They bring with them a lovely double
magnum featuring the original artwork of Danny Haas which
makes is truly unique. The Esprit de Tablas is their signature
wine which are rich, balanced, and ageable, and should reward time in bottle to mature.
Parry Cellars Package
7
estimated value: $625
1 - Magnum Parry Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
2 - bottles Parry Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Lunch for Four at Parry Cellars in Saint Helena
This lovely lot is courtesy of Stephen Parry who is back at Heart’s Delight and this year
is joined by his wife, Sue for her first Heart’s Delight. Parry Cellars is Napa Valley’s
smallest single vineyard winery and with the challenging weather in 2011, they only
produced 150 cases so this lot is even more precious. Their wine is a labor of love that
they are sure you will enjoy now and in the future. Winemaker Andy Schweiger says the
2011 reveals “richly layered aromas of blackberry, blueberry, pomegranate, and currant
with undertones of cassis, Bing cherry, plum, and Herbes de Provence. Lush, rich entry
with subtle oak tones, flowing into a luscious mid palette with layered fruit and tannin.
Fruit character carries into a rich balance of elegant tannin and blackberry and stone
fruit. Ample acidity allows the fruit and tannin to linger in the finish.” The winning
bidder will also enjoy lunch at Parry Cellars which is not open to the public so it is
quite a treat!
By George!
estimated value: $450

1 - Magnum George Wine Company Sonoma Coma 2011
1 - Magnum George Wine Company Buena Tierra 2012
A Heart’s Delight veteran and our favorite one-man-show we
are so glad that George Levkoff is able to join us again. George
Levkoff crafts Pinot Noir the “old-school” Burgundian way, and savvy sommeliers
around the country keep spreading his gospel. And nowhere more so than Las Vegas,
where, at last count, George Pinot Noirs grace the wine lists of nearly 100 top restaurants
( Joel Robuchon, Guy Savoy, Spago and Picasso to name a few). New York comes close
to this number, including iconic spots such as Craft, Jean-Georges, Marea, and The
21 Club. Closer to home, you’ll find George on just about every top restaurant in the
state such as The French Laundry, Cut, Gordon Ramsay and ink. The eye-widening list
is a testament to the power of these beautiful wines. Sonoma Coma is a blend of five
vineyards, all of which fall within a one-mile radius in the heart of the Russian River
Valley. The Buena Tierra Vineyard is on Eastside Road across from Rochioli, steps
from the river. The wine has a perfumed essence with rose water and lilacs evident.

1 - Magnum Quintessa 2006
9
estimated value: $350
Welcome to Larry Stone – this is his first Heart’s Delight
and the first for Quintessa as well. Larry Stone became the
first American to win the prestigious Grand Prix de Sopexa
for the title of the Best International Sommelier in French Wines in Paris. After
winning this momentous title, he because America’s 9th Master Sommelier. He then
became the General Manager and Sommelier of Charlie Trotter’s Restaurant, then
founder and partner of Rubicon Restaurant with Drew Nieporent Robert deNiro,
Robin Williams and Francis Ford Coppola. In light of his friendship and admiration
of the Huneeus family--and his appreciation of Rutherford terroir--he joined Huneeus
Vintners in 2012. He brings with him a magnum from the 2006 vintage, 92 points
by the Wine Enthusiast, “A big, powerful wine. Shows classic Quintessa ripeness and
density, with focused black cherry, currant, mocha, violet and cedar flavors articulated
by firm tannins.”
1 - Double Magnum PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
10
estimated value: $500
John Conover joins us for his first official Heart’s Delight
and he brings with him a three liter of the current release
from PlumpJack which you hopefully had a chance to taste
tonight. It was awarded 93 points by the Wine Advocate,
“Gorgeous seductiveness and plenty of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit. This fullbodied, precocious and lusty style should drink well for 10-15 years.”
1 - 3 liter Hourglass Estate Blueline Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
11
38
estimated value: $500
With the acquisition of the Blueline Estate Vineyard in
Calistoga California, in 2006, and a new partnership with
the Chilton and Clark families, Hourglass has evolved from
a single vineyard label into an estate designated wine brand
comprised of two estate vineyards (the original Hourglass Estate Vineyard and the
Blueline Estate Vineyard) complete with its own postmodern state-of-the art winery.
The Hourglass Blueline Estate Vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet
Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Domaine Drouhin Oregon Cuvée Louise Mini-Vertical
12
estimated value: $565
1 - bottle Domaine Drouhin Oregon Cuvée Louise 2012
1 - bottle Domaine Drouhin Oregon Cuvée Louise 2011
1 - bottle Domaine Drouhin Oregon Cuvée Louise 2010
1 - bottle Domaine Drouhin Oregon Edition Limitée Chardonnay 2012
Domaine Drouhin has supported the United States of Wine since the beginning and
we are so happy that one of our favorites, David Millman is able to join us this year. He
brings their best cuvee, Louise which is always special and to quote David, the Edition
Limitée Chardonnay to start the evening right! In each vintage, Véronique Drouhin
knows that there lies hidden a selection of a few favorite barrels that, once nurtured and
artfully blended, will become Louise. Seamless, complex, layered and deeply pleasing,
it is a rare and decidedly wonderful wine. It is Louise. Louise maintains its sense of
place and vintage character through a gentle élevage, and the use of only 20% new
French oak. DDO’s goal is to produce Pinot Noir with balance, elegance and finesse,
and Louise best exemplifies these qualities.
1 - 5L Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello 1993
13
estimated value: $1,800
This is Eric Baugher’s second Heart’s Delight and we are
thrilled he is able to join us again. Plus we are thrilled he
brought this five liter Monte Bello with him for the auction.
It was awarded 93 points from Robert Parker. Ridge’s Monte
Bello has certainly benefitted from just this sort of critical comparison, and of course
we’ve taken it as high praise every time. Jancis Robinson has compared the Monte Bello
to great Bordeaux wines in her writings, Slate has called the Monte Bello “California’s
First Growth,” and the very eminent Stephen Spurrier has oft made the comparison in
various ways, as have Robert Parker Jr., Stephen Tanzer, and more.
