Library Exhibit
On Candy Makers
A new Chicago Public
Library exhibit titled
Sweet Home Chicago: The
History of America’s
Candy Capital, will be on
display through March
3rd, in the Special Collections Exhibit Hall on the
9th floor of the Harold
Washington Library Center, 400 S. State st.
The exhibit includes
numerous artifacts, photographs and other documentary items that tell
the story of Chicago’s
iconic candy makers.
At one time, Chicago
produced about one-third
of the candy in the U.S.
and employed about
25,000 workers to create
Snickers, Milky Way,
Lemon Heads, Butterfingers and Cracker Jack.
Chicago was an ideal location due to its reputation as a transportation
hub and its climate.
