FROM OUR PASTOR…
Dear Folks,
“Nothing separates us from the love of God.” The
Apostle Paul’s words echo down through the millennia,
“Nothing separates us from the love of God”, not the
cross, not the grave, not the three days of death.
These words are just as true today as they were on that
Easter morning, when God shattered the bonds of death,
bringing all eternity to each of us.
“Nothing can separate us from the love of God”, not
disease, not accidents, not atrocities, not injustice, not
war.
Not hate, not ignorance, not greed, not jealously, not the
lust for power. “Nothing can separate us from the love
of God.”
PRAYER WALK: May 3rd
On Sunday, May 3rd, following Worship and Coffee Hour, we will
be embarking on another Prayer Walk. Starting with a prayer and
ending with a prayer, we will take a stroll down Church Street and
Huntington Street, familiarizing ourselves with our neighborhood
and the people who live there. This is one of our events in our
“Reaching Out!” initiative. This will also be a time for us to share
in conversation, laughter, and fellowship while keeping the people
of Huntington in our thoughts and prayers. After the walk, we will
grab some lunch at Sassafras. There is no need to sign up, just
show up!
Thank you to those who participated and
donated to the Annual Bowl-2-Benefit held
on Saturday, March 14th. Our donation total
is $900.00!

I appreciate so very much all the cards, letters and telephone
calls that I have received from you since my fall at the end of
October.
With therapy I’m learning to walk again with a walker. I t takes
time when you are 94 years old but I will get there.
I miss all the activities during Lent but think of you all. I send
my love to you all.

Annual Easter Egg
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will follow worship
on Palm Sunday, March 29th. This is for
preschool-5th grade. Bring a basket and hop on
down!!! Sponsored by the 6th - 8th grades.
Wrapped candy donations are appreciated by March 22nd .

life sized obstacle course that you will make and race!!

Pancake
OGHS Pancake Breakfast will be Sunday, April 19th following
the service. This is an event sponsored by the Christian Education
Committee. Tickets will be on sale in the alcove as the date gets
closer.
Please purchase your tickets and help us support the High School
Youth Group’s 30 Hour Famine. All proceeds will benefit One
Great Hour of Sharing.

Treasures, Talents and Tastes Auction
Saturday, May 16th, 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall

 Bag Auction
Everyone has a talent or treasure. We hope you will share yours with
the church by making a donation to the auction. The Auction has been a
great success due, in large part, to the wonderful and creative donations
made by church members. If you need an idea, please speak to Bob or
Linda Sember and look through previous years’ catalogues. The
catalogues are located on the table in the alcove along with registration
forms, donation forms and absentee bidding forms. Please get your
donations in as soon as possible so that they are included in the
catalogue. There will be a list of donations posted. We hope to see
yours there.
There is a $10.00 per person registration fee. Pre-registration is
necessary so we may plan accordingly for the hors d’oeuvres and
desserts which will be served.
A portion of the fee will go to support Spooner House. You will also
receive 3 tickets for the bag auction with your paid registration. It will
be an evening of FUN and FUND raising for our church, so be sure to
invite your friends and neighbors. There’s something for everyone and
every budget from delicious food to talents, treasures and services.
For those of you who cannot attend the auction but would like to
participate there are Absentee Bidding Forms available in the alcove
which explains the rules. Essentially, you pre-register so we can give
you an auction number. A designated absentee bidder will be assigned
to bid for items on your behalf up to your maximum bid. (Auction items
will be in the catalogue and online and will be available the week of the
auction.)
If you are not able to pick up a donation or registration form we will
be happy to get one to you.

TRUSTEES: Had to have roof shoveled due to leaks in Fellowship
Hall. Sink hole developing in the parking lot. This is a huge hole and
potentially very dangerous. Located outside kitchen and Nursery
School entrance. Judy Tucker to have Terry write up
recommendation as this is what he does for a living. Basic
maintenance around the grounds is being done. Have a request from
an Eagle Scout candidate for a project. Trustees are doing Spooner
House meal for March. Gerry got a quote to repair the roof.
Bathroom upstairs in Reuman House is not usable right now.
DIACONATE: Doing Spooner House meal in July. Bringing
Council their recommendation to start the Open and Affirming
discussion. Lucille said the process should take about a year to 18
months to complete. Gail S. moved and Sue L. seconded beginning
the Open and Affirming process. Motion carried. Lucille feels after
service with a lunch served would be the best time to meet, but not
before Easter.
WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP: Donated $200 to Connie Glenn for
her mission trip to the Dominican Republic, making Patriotic themed
basket for auction, hosting tag sale Saturday June 6 th, giving out
plants for Mother’s Day and serving the Spooner House meal in
June.
NOMINATING: Making a basket for Auction. Awaiting a date for
Spooner House meal.
CHRISTIAN ED: Lenten Workshop went well. Donations covered
expense of materials. 8-10 kids participate in the Bowl to Benefit
and are hoping to exceed the $805 they raised last year. Sunday
School kids will prepare a meal at Spooner House 3/15. 3/27 is Fun
Night with Dad in Fellowship Hall. 3/29 Easter egg hunt even
though they may have a smaller attendance. 6-8th grades will
sponsor it. Junior choir will plan for the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the
month. Pancake Breakfast on April 19th following the Famine.
TREASURER: have not spent entire snow removal budget.
Acknowledged $5000. from Women’s Fellowship.
STEWARDSHIP: Spooner House meal for August. Not sure how
to move ahead with the next campaign. Lucille said she will give
them some assistance.
MINISTER: Hosted Ash Wednesday service with 2 Methodist
Churches. Following week we hosted dinner and service. Quiet Hour
is progressing very well. Maundy Thursday will be Seder at 6:30p.m.
and service at 7:45p.m. Saturday, April 4th rehearsal for bells, choir
and sacred dancers. Music Sunday will be tentatively the last Sunday
in May. The new piano to be dedicated that Sunday as well. April
21st will be Youth Service. The capital campaign and all member
canvas will be done together regarding the budget. Lucille recently
took a webinar on capital campaigns. We had the Appreciative
Inquiry 2 years ago in April and then sort of let it drop. We need to
re-address the vision statements that came out of Appreciative Inquiry
2 yrs. ago. Council Retreat – tentatively Saturday, May 30th.
MODERATOR: Pastoral Relations met and discussed some of these
items. Both outgoing and incoming members were in attendance.
HONOREES!
Susan Lindley and Gail Schoennagel have been chosen as
Women of the Year by the Women’s Fellowship and will be
recognized at the Spring Gathering of the Women’s Fellowship of
the United Church of Christ.
During the Gathering there will be workshops and worship as
well as the recognition of Women of the Year.
The Gathering will be held:

Registration forms are available in the church office. Carpooling is
planned.
MISSION TRIP & RAFTING: July 31 & August 1
HCC-UCC HSYG Summer Trip
(open to all ages as spots available)
On behalf of our Women’s Fellowship I want to thank everyone
who has helped us with this important project. It is important to
know that you are all helping to make someone’s life better and
giving them hope.
Circles 1 and 2 are in need of items to complete the baby kits:
 Cloth diapers
 Under shirts under 12 months (no oneies)
 Sleepers or gowns (Under 12 months)
 Receiving blankets
Donations can be left in CWS boxes in Fellowship Hall until
Sunday 6th.

We have the following two day mission/fun trip planned. Need
Commitment and deposit by March 20th.
Participants can elect to do both Heifer and Rafting Trip, or just
one.
Friday 7/31/15: Heifer International Educational program
as shown below followed by a service project. Total cost
$17.50/person, we will pack our own lunches. Depart HCC
@ 6:45 a.m. http://www.heifer.org/about-heifer/index.html
Friday Night: Camp at Zoar Outdoor on Platform Tents or
stay at cheap motel in Deerfield. MA
Saturday 8/1/15: White Water Raft trip on the Deerfield
River. Two levels of intensity, both start and finish at the
same time. Class III and IV rapids on the “Dryway” @
$116.00/person. Class II and III rapids on the “Zoar Gap” @
$85.00 adults and $68.00 for those 15 and under. Meet at
10:00 a.m. We have 16 Dryway and 8 Zoar gap slots on hold
till 3/20 when a 50% deposit is required.
UMBRELLA
In support of Umbrella which counsels and protects victims of
abuse, Circle IV of the Women’s Fellowship continues the
gathering of new clothing for women and children (socks of all
sizes are especially welcome), toiletries, kitchen paper goods and
cleaning supplies. Old cell phones are reprogrammed to 911 and
are given to victims who need to summon aid. Like-new children’s
books are always welcome.
The Circle also collects used postage stamps for recovering and
retired veteran stamp collectors, used eye glasses and hearing aids,
Betty Crocker Box Tops for Education and Campbells Labels for
Education.
The donations found in the Fellowship box are greatly
appreciated.

Once again the High School Youth
Group will participate in the World
Vision 30-Hour Famine fund raiser. This
event has been connecting teens in developed countries to the
issue of hunger in the developing world for over twenty
years. Students learn about hunger, raise funds to fight hunger,
and go hungry themselves.
The youth grow closer to Christ and each other, all while helping
to save the lives of hungry kids. The dates are April 18th & 19th.
You can participate by donating to one of the youth and/or being a
volunteer during the Famine Period.
