6th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
ON
SOLIDIFICATION SCIENCE AND PROCESSING
November 24-27, 2015
at
Leonia International Centre for
Exhibitions and Conventions,
Hyderabad, India
Organized by
Due to the large distance from the city, it is not practical for delegates to commute daily from the city to the
conference venue and therefore, all the participants are expected to stay at the convention centre. This, in
turn, is expected to promote more interactions between the participants.

About the Conference
“International Conference on Solidification Science and Processing (ICSSP)” is a triennial event, which was
first commenced at Bangalore in 2001. Subsequently, it was held at Bangalore in 2004, Jaipur in 2006, Chennai in 2009 and Bhubaneswar in 2012. The present conference, i.e ICSSP6-2015 is the sixth in the series and
organized by Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. This will
be a residential conference and held at a convention centre located around 40 km away on the outskirt of
Hyderabad to promote good interaction among the participants.
Scope of the Conference
The primary objective of this conference is to bring together all technologists, scientists, professors,
research scholars and students, and promote mutual interaction to review new challenges in the field of
solidification science and processing. Such an interaction is expected to improve synergy between diverse
research groups based on complimentary interests (e.g. fundamentals, modelling, processing,
characterization etc.). The format of the conference will be to promote brainstorming, so that critical issues
pertaining to individual research activities can be addressed and ideas can be exchanged through extensive
discussions.
The conference consists of invited oral presentations by eminent personalities of international acclaim
followed by contributory posters by other researchers. The conference is designed in such a way that there
will be only one session at a time to ensure an intense interaction among all the participants. Further to
encourage students, the best poster presentations will be awarded. Following a peer review, papers will be
presented at the conference and published in an international journal.
The topics include but are not limited to:
T Fundamentals of solidification
T Directional solidification and single crystal casting
T Modelling of solidification processes
T Rapid solidification
T Solidification under micro-gravity & electroT Defects in castings and welding
magnetic field
T In situ observation during solidification
T Solidification of composites
T Advanced characterization of solidified structure
T Advances in solidification process: Laser, ElectronT Novel solidified materials
beam etc
T Bulk metallic glasses and nanocrystalline materials
T Solidification of foam and syntactic composites
