About IETE (and its Jammu Centre)
The Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication
Engineers (IETE), founded in 1953, is the national
apex
professional
body
of
Electronics,
Telecommunication,
Computer,
and
IT
professionals. IETE serves its 1.25 lac members
both individuals and industries / organizations
through its 65 centers spread all over India and
abroad. It focuses on advancing the Science and
Technology of Electronics and related areas.
Towards this end, the Institution promotes and
conducts basic engineering and continuing
technical education programmes for human
resource development. It also holds national
conferences, seminars and workshops every year
throughout India. IETE Jammu Centre started
functioning on 6‐09‐1997 and it was formally
inaugurated by the then Vice Chancellor of Jammu
University, Prof R R Sharma. Presently it is situated
at Building No. 1; Sunder Nagar, Camp Road, Talab
Tillo, Jammu.
About Ramnagar campus
University of Jammu is credited with seven off‐site
campuses. Ramnagar Campus is one of them
offering two year P.G Programme in Sociology and
three year programme in Computer Science and
Applications. At present both the academic
programmes are being run from the Degree
College Ramnagar and the campus is being built on
a beautiful hillock at Dalsar.
