5th CII Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit

About
The 5th CII Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit, co-organized by CII, Ministry of Skill
Development & Entrepreneurship, and National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Board,
Government of India, will be organized as part of Knowledgexpo and bring together
organizations from different industry sectors and segments, and talk about their innovation
prowess and challenges. The summit will also host the flagship CII Industrial Innovation Awards
2015 to recognize top innovation driven organizations and start-ups in 2015. Policy level
discussion will be organized to find out improvement areas on the existing policy
recommendations for entrepreneurship at national and state level. Also key case studies of
successful innovations will be presented for learning and understanding of the latest trends.
Participants will have the opportunity to advance their understanding of industrial innovation,
entrepreneurship development and learn more on the future opportunities in this area.
Information on new tools, practices, policies and platforms will be up for grabs.
Theme
The theme of 5th CII Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit & Expo will be -
Innovate in India – Start-up in India – Make in India
The Prime Minister of India has set his vision towards this goal by setting up of an aligned
ministry for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. With this political will in place backed by
an overall national consensus in favor of adopting a growth oriented model around innovation
and entrepreneurship, the time is ripe to implement right policies and initiatives.
The role of innovation to boost industrial competitiveness and growth also needs recognition so
that more and more companies, especially SMEs, come forward and adopt a structured
innovation approach to do their business. Similarly, innovation driven start-ups need
recognition and promotion so that not only they prosper, but their peers and competitors are
also motivated to adopt innovation as the key driver for their business growth.
India is gradually recognizing the fact that growth propelled by entrepreneurship has the power
to revolutionize the economy dramatically by transforming the job seekers into Job creators.
With the employment requirement ever-increasing and the big industry houses nearing their
saturation limit to create new job, this is the only way forward for India to sustain its economic
growth, and provide jobs to millions of its young population.
The summit will put the theme into perspective by showcasing newfound innovation sprit
within the industry driven by competitiveness, and also bring forth the opportunities of
entrepreneurship in recent times by showcasing the new growth trajectories.

Considering India needs role models in the field of entrepreneurship to motivate the new
generation to take up entrepreneurship as an alternate career option it is essential to showcase
the successful entrepreneurs and their start-ups. The summit will bring together an array of
budding entrepreneurs who will share their entrepreneurial learning with the new aspirants.

CII Industrial Innovation and Start-up Awards
CII conducts yearly Innovation and Start-up Awards through a six months process where
innovative industry and start-ups (both Indian and MNCs) operating in Indian apply and a
special jury selects the awardees through a robust process including on-site due diligence.
These awards will be conferred at the event.
Exhibition and Networking Platform
An exposition of Innovation & Entrepreneurship will be organized on the side-lines of the
Summit to provide a very big opportunity for all participants of the summit to showcase their
innovative products and services to a large audience and network with them for forging tie-ups.
The exhibition is the facilitating platform for the exposition, a forum to get together, celebrate
and explore innovation and entrepreneurship at a national and international level. The expo

existing Indian Start-ups.
