Mission Statement: Mid-State Technical College will deliver quality initial and ongoing fire protection training to the community we are committed to serve. Vision Statement: Mid-State Technical College Fire Training is the educational provider of choice for the fire service community. SPRING 2015: The following classes are covered by 2% dues if student is sponsored by a Fire Dept. ENTRY LEVEL FIREFIGHTER (Includes Part A and Part B): 60 hours (47-503-710) Entry Level Firefighter (60-hour) introduces the participant to the basic knowledge and skills necessary to perform fire fighting functions under direct supervision. Those who complete the course successfully have meet the minimum fire fighting training requirements as specified in Comm 30.08, Employment standards (1) [3-3.2] of Wisconsin Administrative Code, Department of Commerce, Chapter 30, Fire Department Safety and Health. NOTE: A 36-hour FF1 (part C) will be offered beginning March 30, 2015, for those individuals seeking Firefighter I Certification. Please be sure to register for this course separately! MSTC Wisconsin Rapids Class # 25294 Room: TBD Dates: Monday evenings: January 5 – March 23. Saturday sessions: February 14, March 7 and March 21. NOTE: Students MUST attend all three Saturday class sessions. Time: Monday: 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. FIREFIGHTER I - 36 hours (47-503-721) This 36-hour course prepares the participant to be able to perform firefighting functions at a minimum nationally recognized level under direct supervision. This course when taken in subsequent to completion the Entry Level Fire Fighter (60 hours) is designed to provide the Fire Fighter I candidate with the additional information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) defined in NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, 2008 Edition, Sections 5.2 through 5.5. Through participation in this 36-hour class the student will meet the academic preparation needed in order to participate in the written and practical exam to achieve FF1 Certification status in Wisconsin. The participant must also take the Hazardous Materials Operation level course in order to meet the remainder of the NFPA Fire Fighter I JPRs. Prerequisites: Entry Level Firefighter Parts 1 and 2. Room: TBD Time: Monday: 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Saturday session: 8-2 p.m. Driver/Operator–Pumper (Certified) Part I & II (47-503-743) Each section of this course is 33-hours in length. Participants are required to complete both sections. The content prepares the participant to be able to perform fire apparatus maintenance, driving, positioning, operating / pumping and testing functions at a minimum nationally recognized level. The total 66-hour content provides the Fire Apparatus Driver / OperatorPumper candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPR’s) 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications, Chapter 2 and 3. Successful completion of the 66-hour combined course allows the participant to test for Certified Driver – Operator Pumper. Time: Monday: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Saturday session: 8-5 p.m. Room: A-168 FIRE OFFICER 1 (47-503-763) This course prepares the Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter II to meet the job performance requirements defined in Sections 2-2 through 2-7 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. Certification is awarded upon the Certified Fire Fighter II passing written and practical skills exams. Marshfield Campus Class # 25318 nd Dates: Thursday: January 22 – May 14, 2015 Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Room: MFLD 109 Driver/Operator–Aerial (Certified) (47-503-747) This course is designed to provide the Driver/Operator-Aerial candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4. The course curriculum is taken from the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook, 2nd Edition. At the completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the State of Wisconsin Fire Apparatus Driver Operator- Aerial written and practical examinations. Successful completion of this course allows the participant to test for Certified Driver – Operator Aerial. Wisconsin Rapids Campus: (off-site locations for driving portion) # 25317 Dates: Wednesday: April 22- May 13, 2015 Saturday: April 25 & May 16. Time: Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Saturday session: 8-6 p.m Room: A-168 GRANT FUNDED CLASS: HAZARDOUS MATERIALS OPERATIONS (47-503-780) This 16-hour course prepares the participant to perform the minimum hazardous material incident operations skills associated with fire fighting functions at an advanced nationally recognized level under general supervision. The targeted audience is individuals who have completed, or are in the process of completing, the Fire Fighter I Job Performance Requirements (JPRs) in NFPA 1001 for certification to the Wisconsin Fire Fighter I level. This course is also available to members of the Emergency Medical Services, Law Enforcement, and other industrial employees listed under 29CFR1910. This course is designed to provide the Fire Fighter I candidate with the information needed to meet the JPRs in Chapter 5, Core Competencies for Operations Level Responders, Section 6.2, and Section 6.6., MissionSpecific Competencies: Product Control, of NFPA 472. The participant must also take the Fire Fighter I course in order to meet the remainder of the NFPA Fire Fighter I JPRs to prepare for certification to the Fire Fighter I level. A written exam is available to participants who successfully complete this course. A participant who completes this course and wishes to be certified at the Fire Fighter I must successfully pass the written portion of the Hazardous Materials Operations exam. Participants have two years from the completion of the course to take the exam. This class will include both Face-to-Face sessions and online delivery. Students must successfully complete both the in-class and online portions to be successful in the course. MSTC Wisconsin Rapids Campus Class # 24646 Date: Wednesday evenings, January 7 – January 28. Time: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. This course is a self-funded course: ROOM: TBA EMERGENCY SERVICE INSTRUCTOR (47-503-436) This is a 2-weekend course delivery! This is a 40-hour certification level course intended for fire fighters and EMS personnel interested in fire instruction, EMS instruction, or as a requirement of Fire Officer 1 certification. Prerequisite: Firefighter II or EMT or higher licensure (For those seeking EMS ESI). This class will be offered in a TWO weekend format, with a weekend off between. At the time of registration students must include a form of payment.
