Fort Madison, IA - The Iowa State Penitentiary was placed on restricted movement this morning
following receipt of information of a possible security breach. During the process of returning offenders
to their housing units, a Corrections Officer was assaulted.
The Officer was sent to the Fort Madison Community Hospital for treatment. The facility will remain on
restricted movement status until all areas of the institution are searched.
The regular visiting schedule will be observed.
Due to the ongoing facility search and staff assault, no additional information is available at this time.
