ICAR- IVRI celebrated World Earth Day with competitions, awareness
lessons and plantation
A number of activities were organized to
celebrate the World Earth Day on 22nd
April at Sardar Patel kanya Inter college,
Village Ahrola, Bareilly wherein more than
450 school girls hailing from rural areas,
school staff and teachers, KVK staff,
scientists and students of Division of
Extension were present. On the occasion,
banners and colorful charts were put up.
Students were sensitized
about the
importance of Earth Day and ways of saving
the environment. Tree plantation was also
organized in school premises. Painting and
quiz competitions were organized on
theme “SAVE THE EARTH” and prizes were
distributed to the winning participants. At
the end, students took the pledge to save
the natural resources of the earth on the
occasion.
Chief guest of the function, Shri Devendra
Singh, Block Pramukh, Bithri inaugurated
the event and stressed on the need of
caring the earth and saving the water
resources. . He also encouraged students and teachers to integrate ecological
concepts in school curriculum and student behavior.

Extension highlighted the importance of
clean and green environment especially in
and around the schools and home.
Dr Hema Tripathi Program coordinator and
Principal scientist discussed the public
health,
environmental
issues,
industrialization, deforestation etc.. She
also encouraged and be aware about
growing problems of air, water and soil
pollution and stressed on 3Rs of waste
management ie Reduce, Reuse, Recycle for
sustainable life.
Mrs Anju Gurang Principal of the school, Dr
Ajay Sen Chaudhry Incharge KGK and Shri
Ajai Raj Sharma, trainer NYK also educated
the students on environmental problems
and its remedial measures.
Students actively took part in the
awareness program against increasing earth
issues such as the day to day environment
deterioration, air and water pollution,
ozone layer deterioration, deforestation etc.
The program was compeered by Shri Ranjit singh SMS KVK. Shri Rakesh Pandey,
Shri Manish tomar, Dr Ranjana Gupta, Shri J P singh, Dr Shyam from KVK, students
and faculty of Extension Education participated actively in organizing the event
successfully.
