"Learn from Each Other" PROGRAM 7th Annual May 30, 2015 Sponsored By The Puyallup Tribe of Indians www.kentinternationalfestival.com "Learn from Each Other" 2015 Kent International Festival The 7th Annual Kent International Festival is a one day event each year where Kent and south King County residents can celebrate their cultural heritage together. This is done through entertainment on three stages; cultural, information and vendor booths; and the International Taste of Kent Food Court featuring nine local ethnic restaurants. FEATURED ACTIVITIES Generations Walking Together One mile walk starting & ending at ShoWare Hope you enjoyed the walk this morning at 9:30 that was sponsored by Kent 4Health. If you missed this kickoff multi-cultural walk, you missed a lot of fun. Those attending the beginning event of the Festival walked from ShoWare to Kent Station, the Kent Library and then returned to ShoWare. Many walked while holding umbrellas and posters. Some play music and or beat on drums. If you missed the walk, come early next year and help kick off a day where Kent and south King County residents all come together to “Learn from Each Other.” Art Exhibition on the Concourse 10:00 am to 4:00 pm The Kent Community Foundation, working with Kent School District art students and their teachers, have displayed art expressing the theme of “Learn from Each Other”. These represent elementary, middle and high school students from one the most diverse areas of the country. Hand Carried Float Contest Building Phase 10:30 am to 3:00 pm on arena floor Entertaining Phase 4:00 to 4:30 pm on Arena stage Four high school aged teams will build a hand carried float on the arena floor and then perform to express their selected theme. Using the same common building materials and tools, they must build with the clock ticking away and then decorate with items they have chosen. Then they perform on stage to music they have selected. All this energy and creativity will be judged in nine areas by a volunteer group of TransDev employees to determine who will win 1st and 2nd place cash prize for their team. THANK YOU Kent International Festival Committee thanks our many sponsors, businesses, organizations and volunteer groups. Over 600 hours of volunteer time are required to staff the day of the Festival. These volunteers and those who helped financially have made it possible to host a free admission event.
