Lakeside Rooms Groups Programs Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy A Quick Overview © Lakeside Rooms January 2015 Commencing Thursday 14 May 2015 • 5.30pm – 7.30pm over 8 weeks (subject to numbers) This group is suitable for individuals actively interested in secular mindfulness practice, and in developing ways to manage the challenges of everyday living. The course is suitable for anyone committed to living life more fully and in the present, including individuals who may have experienced stress, anxiety or depression. Participants engage in experiential learning of the three core mindfulness practices, guided by an experienced clinical psychologist and MBCT facilitator. Throughout the course, participants are guided to explore ways of integrating mindful awareness into their own lives, while learning to become more responsive, rather than reactive, to the challenges and stressors that life brings. Program Facilitator Judy Robinson Clinical and Counselling Psychologist Professional development as a Mindfulness Facilitator has included MBCT teacher training with Monash University; MBSR Professional Training Retreat with Jon Kabbat-Zinn, Sydney; Insight Dialogue training with Gregory Kramer; participation in teacher-led silent meditation and retreats; and in a number of local and international mindfulness professional and academic networks. Program Details The program has two essential components: Group meets for 2 hours once weekly for 8 weeks, where learning is largely experiential, engaging in the core Mindfulness practices, with additional exercises and teachings that support your learning. The second essential component is the home practice. To really benefit from the course, participants are guided by an experienced clinical psychologist and MBCT facilitator.
