University of Florida IFAS/Lee County Extension and Conservation 20/20 Invite you to the: 2015 Birding Seminar April 17th and 18th Join local, national and international experts for two days of exploring the science and value of our birds in Southwest Florida and beyond. We aim to provide an event with something for beginning birders and those with extensive life lists. Explore the local environment through guided field trips and lectures. Day 1, April 17th, 2015 Field Trips Bunche Beach: Shorebird Viewing 18201 John Morris Road, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931 Do you think all shorebirds look alike? This trip will help beginners learn to identify and appreciate the most common birds found on our local beaches. Beaches are valuable resting and nesting areas for resident and migratory shorebirds and a wonderful area to see bird behavior and learn identification skills. Need to know: Please wear comfortable walking shoes that can get wet; bring binoculars and a bird field guide (if you have one). Time: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Trip Leaders: Charlie Ewell Field trip cost: Included in seminar registration. Maximum Group Size: 15 Additional Information: There are restrooms at the parking lot. Estero Bay: Wading Bird Boat Trip Fish Tale Marina: 7225 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931 Are you new to birding? Our wading birds are some of the easiest to identify for beginners due to size and distinctive coloration. Join Fish Tale Marina naturalists for a boat ride in Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve to observe wading birds in their natural habitat. You will see a rookery island where birds rest and nest and view birds feeding in the shallows of Estero Bay, the state’s first Aquatic Preserve. Need to know: Please bring binoculars and a bird field guide (if you have one). Time: 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Trip Leaders: Fish Tale Marina Naturalist Field trip cost: $6.00 Maximum Group Size: 25 Day 2.
