If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding

“God’s Response to Rampant Sin”
Habakkuk 1:5-11
Big Idea: We must deal with sin severely because God does.
1. God takes sin among his people seriously; look at his fierce judgment.

Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church
There will be a called congregational meeting at the end of each worship
service in the sanctuary and fellowship hall today for the purpose of electing
the nominated elders and deacons to the class of 2018.
Frank Hitchings will be on his Session-approved sabbatical from this Friday,
May 1, to August 15 as a gift of rest given to our ministers in grateful
acknowledgement of the burden they bear for the church and the spiritual
wellbeing of those they serve. We should consider it an act of love to support
the Hitchings family in prayer and respect their privacy to withdraw from our
lives for a season. Pray for refreshment of soul, mind, and body for Frank and
a drawing close to Mary Vassar and their children.
The choir will be presenting its spring concert, Amazing Love, on Sunday, May 3,
at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. The concert will be a festival of hymns
incorporating congregational singing, brass quintet and timpani, and choral
music. In addition, we’ll hear the stories behind some favorite hymns including
And Can It Be and Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing. We warmly invite the entire
congregation to this special evening of music as we praise the Lord together.
2. God rules sovereignly; look at who he wields.
This year’s high school missions week will be June 14-19, and we will be
serving Widows Harvest and Church of the First Born. The cost is $150 with a
$50 deposit due next Sunday, May 3. The $100 balance is due June 1. For

3. God judges rightly; look at his Son.

High school graduates: to be included in our 2015 graduate list, please
email your name and the name of the school from which you are graduating
this spring to [email protected] no later than May 22.
We are grateful for the new pew cushions and furnishings added to our
sanctuary recently. These furnishings were made possible through a generous
bequest of Frances Gardenhire, LMPC member from 1997-2012.
With the help of numerous church members, the book They Called her Miss
Nancy is now a reality. Commissioned by her husband, Bill Caulkins, this
book talks of the lives Nancy Caulkins touched and the difference she made on
Lookout Mountain. A limited number of copies are available at the church
office for a contribution of $25 to the Nancy Caulkins Award for Excellence.
