Annual Report on Sports and Games for the year 2014-15 24 January, 2015 Rev. Fr. Baliah Memorial All India Inter-Collegiate Basketball (Sixth edition) and Volleyball (Third edition) Tournament 2014 heralded the sports and games program for the year with Loyola Academy Basketball and Volleyball teams winning the Runners-up and III position respectively in the prestigious tournament The year 2014-15 saw Loyola Academy emerge as the best college in basketball in the State with both Loyola Academy men and women’s teams winning the First as well as the Second edition of the IMG Reliance Premier League championships held in the month of April 2014 & November ’14 and participating in the National League held at New Delhi in May and December 2014 The college organized a mega event NBA JAM 3X3 basketball tournament, on the 27 and 28 November, 2014, at the college games enclave, in association with NBA India chapter in which around 130 colleges from throughout the states of Telangana, and Andhrapradesh participated. The college men and women basketball teams won the runner-up position in the tournament Ms. Nikhat Banu, MBA I year, international TT player did the college proud by winning the runner up position in doubles in the Inter-institutional championships in table tennis and also the bronze in mixed doubles. She also won three state championships and qualified for the Senior National Championships held from 12 to 18 January, 2015 at Pondicherry. She has also been provisionally st selected to represent Andhrapradesh in the National Games to be held in Kerala from 31 January to 13 February, 2015. A contractual player with Airport Authority of India, she also participated in three National ranking tournaments Nemakkal Ajay Pruthvi, a student of BBA II year played at the international circuit level and underwent specialized training at the California Tennis Academy and played in international circuit tournaments. He is also participating in around 10 national circuit and invitation tournaments to be held during January-February 2015. He has also been selected to represent Osmania University in the South Zone Inter University Tennis Championships 2015 to be held from 24 to 28 at Chennai In the Osmania University inter college tournaments, the college basketball team for men created history by winning the university championships for the fifth consecutive year, the only college to have achieved the feat after the founding of Osmania University The college basketball team for women won the OU inter-college championships for the second year The college volleyball team for men won the Runners-up position in the Osmania University intercollege championships 2014-15 The college Netball team for men won the III place in the OU inter-college tournament 2014-15 The college handball team for men, handball team for women, Tennis team for men, chess team for men and swimming team for men reached the semifinals and won the IV place in OU inter college tournaments In OU inter-College athletics, Mohana Ravali of B.SC Biotechnology, I year, won gold in High Jump and Triple Jump, Mr. Sai Kumar, B.Sc Agri III year won Gold in Hammer throw, Mr. Mohit , B.Com Hons. II year won bronze in 200m; S.K.R. Chary B.Sc Agri. III year won silver in Javelin and Mr. Rajneesh of B.Sc Agri III year won silver in Discus throw In OU inter college swimming championships, Palle Rishi Kumar of B.com Hons. II year won a gold and a bronze and Yogender Rao of B.Com Advtg. II year won three bronze medals The college teams for men and women participated in Table Tennis men, Throw ball women, badminton men, and volleyball women, and Football men in OU inter-college tournaments and reached the quarter finals Intramural Tournaments Intramural tournaments were held from the month of June to January in basketball, volleyball, football, kabaddi, cricket, chess, and table tennis for men, badminton for men and women, athletics for men and women, throw ball for women, basketball for women. Around 1200 men and women participated in the intramural competitions for the year 2014-15 Organization The college organized the Osmania University Inter College Volleyball Championship 2014 for men at Gymkhana grounds from 23-25 September, 2014 The college also organized the Osmania University Inter College Basketball Championships 2014 for men at the College Games Enclave from 28 to 29 September, 2014 nd Loyola Academy, in association with BFI and TBA, organized the 2 Edition of IMG Reliance Basketball Premier League in the college premises from 23 to 24 November, 2014. Open and invitation tournaments The college basketball team for men won the CCOB Inter College tournament for the CCOB Rolling Trophy for the third consecutive year, winning the trophy permanently The college basketball team for women won the Dyan Chand memorial trophy in the Hyderabad District Sports Authority tournament held in August 2014 The college Football team for men won the Runner up position in the Shankar Rao Memorial Tournament organized by Lalaguda Football club The college basketball team for men participated in the Bertram Memorial tournament at Chennai and entered the league phase The college basketball teams for men and women participated in Bosm 2014 organized by BITS PIlani, Rajasthan The college basketball team for women won the Hyderabad District Championship League organized by Hyderabad District Basketball Association for the year 2014-15 The college basketball team for women has been invited to participate in the All India Invitation Inter College basketball tournament to be held at Coimbatore from 6 to 9 February, 2015 The college Cricket team participated in the Eenadu Trophy Open Invitation Tournament and reached the third round. Student Achievements Ms. Rama Mishra, Ms. Akshita, Ms. Sneha Priya and Ms. Monika represented united A. P state in the th 64 Senior National Championships held at Delhi in the month of March 2014 th Mr. Sri Ganesh Patil MBA II year and Shaik Bajid Basha MBA I year represented united A.P State in 64 Senior National Basketball Championships held at Delhi Parjeet Singh Shekawat MBA I year, Ganesh Kumar Bhosle B.com Advtg. III year, Rohit Singh B.Sc Maths II year, Ms. M. Ravali B.Sc Biotech I year, and Ankita Singh B.Com Gen. I year represented Osmania University in Handball in the South Zone Inter University championships held at Namakkal from 29 September to 4 October, 2014 Mahender Reddy of B.Com General I year represented Osmnia University in Volleyball in the South zone inter university championships held at Vijayawada from 4 to 9 November, 2015. He also th represented and led the Telangana State Youth Volleyball team and participated in the 14 National Youth Volleyball championships held at Rampur, Uttarpradesh from 17 to 22 January, 2015 Ms. Sneha Priya, B.com General III year represented Telangana State in the 65 Senior National Basketball Championships held at Bhilwara, Rajasthan from 2 to 6 January, 2015 Chris Viresh of B.Com Gen. II year and M. Pruthvikumar B.A Literature II year represented Osmania University in the South zone Inter university championships held at Chennai from 2 to 6 January, 2014. Mr. Chris Viresh also represented united A.P State in the Junior National Championships held at Kolkata Ms. Vartika Pandey and Ms. Sneha Priya of B.com Gen III year, Ms. Rama Mishra and Ms. Ayesha of B.A Lite. II year, Ms. Mounika of BBA II year, Ms. Sharanya of B.Sc Biotech II year, and P.B. Akshita of B.com Hons II year, represented Hyderabad Sports Authority and won the I place in the Telangana State Women Championships and 5 of them have got selected to represent the state in the National Women’s Sports Festival to be held tentatively in the III week of February Mr. Bobby, & Mr. Arun kumar, participated in the Youth State championships in basketball held at khammam and won the I and II place respectively in the tournament Mr. Benson David, B.A Mass comm. II year and Mr. Anuj Kumar, B.com Prof. I year played for the Telangana State Football team and participated in the National Student Olympics held at Vadodara, Gujarat from 28 December to 4 January, 2015. They won the Runner-up position in Football. Both of them have been selected provisionally for the National coaching camp to be held from April last week Bhagyaraj B.A lite. I year represented Telangana State in the Sub Junior nationals held at New Delhi from 27 to 31 December, 2014 in Volleyball Shyam Sunder, B.Com Advtg. I year represented Telangana State in the Junior Nationals at Chandigarh from 18 to 23 December, 2014 in Volleyball B. Anusha BBA III year represented Telangana State in the Jr. National korfball championships held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 6 to 10 December , 2014 Shweta B.com Hons. II year, Aiyeesha and Rama of B.A psychology II year represented Telangana in the National Women’s Sports festival held at Ranchi, Jharkhand from 17 to 23, February, 2015. Mr. T. Udaykumar, NMBA 53 represented Telangana State in the South zone Federation Cup Basketball tournament for men held at Ananthapur, Andhrapradesh from 3 to 6 March, 2015.
