YIN YANG WARS: BALANCING A FALLING UNIVERSE Executive Summary Yin-Yang Wars takes the players on a mission to defeat their counter forces in a battle for the universe. In this battle, each player fights for full control and reigns using one of the five elements: water, air, fire, earth, or spirit. The game uses the basic “good versus evil” concept as with most games and allows the players to choose their side. You will start the game out as a neutral party until you master your powers. Then you are forced to pick a side. Who you fight depends on which side you choose, light or dark. The light will be fighting to stop the dark side from taking over the universe, while the dark side will be fighting for the control themselves. Yin-Yang will take place in the present times, the 21st century, as the thought and practice of actual magic is becoming prevalent again. The game is fantasy RPG, with a focus on 1st person melee combat. Players are expected to stay hooked on game because of the amount of growth that will take place through the learning of new spells, combining of powers to create stronger forces, and the discovery of new and different worlds. Each player will have the options to grow and because as powerful as possible with each passing level. The main quest of the game will take the players on a journey through our current universe in the milky-way galaxy. The journey will be 40-50 hours with many side games and battles along the way of 80+ hours. Animals, mystical beings, as well as land and weather, play an important roles in this game. You can befriend a certain creature (through battle or feeding if you have food) or pick up a certain object (like a lightning bolt) to learn the ability or have the control over that specific thing. Coop play is a very key component in this game and will only be offered online. The ability to team up with another person of a different power allows the option to use a stronger attack to defeat an obstacle. There is no way that you can complete the game without any help from someone of the same side with a different power. It forces you to connect and interact with other people. The worlds that will be explored are the ones of our universe right now. With both sides starting on earth, and being transported throughout the eight other planets that e know, there is always a new and more difficult area to tackle. The combination of the realness of the worlds that we live in today, a fast paced multiplayer game, and characterization customization and upgrading makes this game a must play. The se of magic, which has a growing following in this world today and caters to our societies thought that such things exist, will make this a winning game. Yin-Yang Wars: An Overview Yin-Yang Wars is a multiplayer game that takes place during the present time period of 20132014, a time where witchcraft and magic are coming back into play. The player will create a character, a regular person with one of the five powers over the elements. The character is then placed in a city where they will have to journey to their school which houses their specific power. At this house they learn the basic powers and spells that can be used with their element, and am allowed to make friends from the beginning that could be beneficial at later points in the game. After finishing their education, the character is then asked to leave the school and walks out the doors to face a huge battle of the elements. This is where the big question comes into play as they are forced to join the battle. Will they choose to use their powers of evil or good, as a representative of each side will be waiting at the doors to persuade the character to their side. Once the side is chosen, whether good or evil, the battle then begins. The character is given challenges and quests to complete, whether is it to find a needed object to enhance powers and delivering it to your superior, or to defeating contrabands of the opposing forces. This is the time that characters can grow and advance in powers as they gain experience points and level up. The struggle of the game comes when the only way to defeat a level is to use an ultimate that can only be brought about by the combining and working together of powers. The stronger the boss of the level, the more advanced and skillful you and your partner need to be. The climax of the story is when you have to team up with one person of each of the five powers on your side of the spectrum to make the final journey and to defeat the overlord. The overlord will be either good or evil, depending your side of the gameplay. The Game World The game will take place throughout our entire galaxy that resides within the milky-way galaxy. The first opening world section of the game will be set in Salem, Massachusetts. This is where the famous witch trials took place in the early 1690’s and is where it starts back up. This is where the characters will choose their powers which will give them their directions on where to go. From this place, you will travel to your gates which will take you to your schools, while playing and defeating little mini-games in order to gain some knowledge of your professors that you will meet at the school. The gate to the water school will be located to the east at Waikiki Beach, where you will then be transported to the lost City of Atlantis. This is located at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and the school is shaped like a castle built for a mermaid king. It is submerged underwater in a dome and is there for the perfect place to study and connect with the water itself and all that inhabits it. The gate to the earth school will be located to the west at Gallows Hills Park, where you will then be transported to the jungles of Africa. This is the motherland of everything and where life in the forests began. Therefore it is the perfect place to go back to the roots of the beginning and learn the beasts and feel of the woods and all that it has to offer. The third gate, the gate of air will be located south at Salem Woods. Form there you are transported to Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. It is the closest thing that you have to the sky. There will be a monk temple that sits on a cloud just above the highest peak of the mountain range where the air is studied and mastered. The fourth gate or fire will be located to the north at the Greenlawn Cemetery where you will be transported to the heat of the Flaming Mountains of China. This is one of the hottest places in the world and will help in learning how to control and withstand the heat that is within. This place will be blistering hot with the temple shaped live a volcano. The final gate, and the one that most may think of as the most important is located at the most historical site dealing with the Salem Witch Trials, The Parsonage at Salem Village. From there you are transported into the spirit world of Salem and can interact with the accused of burned of the witch trials. This will teach you how to handle spirits. After finishing school, the characters will then pass back through the gates to be brought back to the beginning in Salem present day. There they be greeted by a battle of forces and representatives of each side who will be trying to persuade them to their side. From there the battle transitions into magical warfare as the character go from Massachusetts to through the United States to California. From there the war moves to over-seas to Asia. Each region that the game takes place in will mirror what is already existent at this present time. There will be little to no deviation from the looks except from the destruction that will emanate from the game. If a building looks destroyed in the game and is not so in real life, then it will only be because of the battle that is forth going. From there you then have to go to each of the eight other planets that we have in our solar system. The order of which you explore these regions is up to you. However, the planets surfaces will be as they are now, which means that each power will work differently depending on the planet’s surface and atmosphere. The weather may change depending on your powers and how massive they are, where you can slightly tip the odds in your favor. Also, the asteroid belt will play a role in the game as a side game in order to increase your accuracy and strength. It will act as a target field and open practice field. It will be accessible from any part of the game and allows for the connection with friends for game play outside of the regular trials of universe conquering. The movement from night to day in the game will move as the clock does in real time. The time in the game will be synced with the real life time outside of the game. When it gets dark outside the game, it should get dark inside the game symbolizing night time. The time of day also plays a certain role in the game also for certain powers are heightened at different times of day. For instance, water is heightened during the middle of the night while fire power is heightened during the middle of the day. The weather however, changes based on the region and the person that has the highest level at that time. Their high power level tips the scale, the amount the weather scale is tipped is based on the power of the next highest level character in the same region. Character Development Although Yin Yang Wars uses today’s society in its game play, it is magic based. Therefore, the characters are restricted to only magical uses for powers, but the type of magic is not as restricted for you have five different types or classes to choose from. At the start of the game the player will be able to choose his/her character from the five different power types: Water – A character that has the control over the element of water. They have the power of healing. Wind – A character that controls the air. They are stealthier than the others. Earth – A character that has control over the ground. They have an extra protective boost or shield. Fire – A character that has the control over the heat. They are quicker than the others. Spirit – A character who has the control over the mythical realm of ghost and spirits. This character is more enlightened than the others, but is slower and easier affected by most attacks. All of the characters have a similar backstory in the sense that they grew up in magical families and were starting to come into their powers. However, not every family has a specific power blood line that is passed down through the generations. All the characters had a weird experience where something happened that they couldn’t explain. For instance, the person with a power over water may be thinking their glass had water in it and the water appeared out of nowhere. Each of the characters has templates that can be further customized based on the player’s wants. The height and weight can each be adjusted as well as the skin color, eye color, hair color, hair style, outfit type and outfit layout. Once the player has created their character, he/she will only be allowed to use and play as that character. There will be no substitutions or transforming of wardrobe or characters at any time throughout the game, with the exceptions of outfits that are need when traveling depending on your needs as a magician. Game Technology In the game, there will be plenty of technology because of the present day, 21st century, background. All that we have in our world today will be in the game, yet will not be as functional as we have it now. The characters will not be able drive the cars or use the elevators that we use today, however they will look and act as if they are movable and useable. The only type of technology that will be useable is that of a typical witch, with a slight addition. Each player will have a magical wand, with symbols that represent their school and power. However, each wand will have a secret blade at the base that can come out and be used as a knife to slay beasts that may pop up to attack. When it comes to healing in Yin Yang Wars, the characters use a temple that is geared towards their element. For instance, the water sorcerer will use a water temple where they will go and encase themselves in water and allow it to close all of their wombs. The Earth temple will use an encasing of granite. Fire temple will use an encasing of lava rocks. The Air temple will use an encasing of well reformed cumulous clouds. The spirit temple will use the feeling of an outer body experience to heal themselves. Controls and Concepts Although most of the game is in first person, it does allow the view of third person when changing outfits and when healing so as to be able to see the process and be able to marvel at the character that the player has created. If the player can’t admire their creation and their emblem of their school and family that will be enhanced and added to after every level up, then it will be pointless. Basic Combat Each of the characters is capable of carrying a wand which is mainly used for strong attacks and summons. The wand can also be used for a shield. In order to use strong attacks, the character has to pull out their wand and team up with a person of a different power to complete the desired attack. One example is a person with the power over water has to team up with a person with the power over earth to create a tsunami. Another example is in order to create a fire tornado; you have to combine the powers of a wind magic user and a air magic user. Water Magician This character has the ability to control any form of water. In the beginning they only have the ability to use water knives and water whips to attack an opponent. As the character grows, they can learn the ability to control the creatures of the sea. The weakest aquatic animal that be controlled is a school of fish that has the ability to swarm an opponent and hit them with a barrage of weak attacks. The strongest aquatic animal that can be controlled is a whale shark, one of the biggest animals of the sea. It has the ability to take a huge bite out a magician, taking away from its life points. This character heals the fastest and is most affective, and is sometimes able to heal themselves on the spot if the ability is available. Fire Magician This character has the ability to control any form of fire. In the beginning they only have the ability to start fire in their hands and to throw small fire balls. As the character grows in power, so do the abilities. The character will eventually be able to start make flame wheels and control the fire beasts. The strongest attack that this character will be able to use it to summon a lava monster. However, the second strongest will be the ability to create a lava shower that will scorch and burn their opponent. This character can use the fire to give them more speed at a certain level. Earth Magician This character has the ability over the ground and earth. In the beginning they can only move rocks and create small earth quakes. As the character grows in level, so does their power. The characters will eventually be able to control the animals and beasts of the land. The weakest animal that could be controlled is a cat. This furry little animal will only be able to throw a barrage of scratches at the opponent. The strongest attack will be the use of a polar bear, one of the strongest and dangerous animals, despite its soft and cuddly appearance. This character at a certain level has the option to use their magic at certain moments to increase strength more than the other players. Air Magician This character has the ability to control the air and skies. In the beginning the can only make small tornadoes from their hands that can shoot straight at the opponent. As the character’s level grows, so does their power. They have the ability to control the animals of the air. The weakest animal that can be used is a swarm of bumble bees which swarms the opponent with stinging attacks. The strongest attack that can be used is a great bald eagle to with a screech that can harm and weaken the defenses of a person. This character at a certain level can increase their stealth with their magic so that they will be able to hide themselves easier. Spirit Magician This character has the ability to control the spirits of the dead and spirits that inhabit our world. Form the beginning, this character can only shoot small focus blasts from their hands right at their opponent. As their level increases, they will be able to summon spirits. At a low level the character can summon banshee who emit a low and weakening scream. The strongest force to be summoned is either an angel for the good ones or a demon for the evil ones. This character is very intelligent and knowledgeable, but is the most vulnerable. Combat Rules Combat is specialized around HP. The player’s statistics and the accuracy of the attack at the enemy will dictate the amount of damage that the enemy takes. The number hits are displayed in numbers right above the enemy’s head, as well as being shown in the energy bar that will be available on the screen. Each player will also have a power bar. This bar will be small in the beginning but will grow as the character level up and learns more complicated spells. The bar starts out full, each spell takes some power from your power bar. When you run out of power, all you have to use is the blade that is hidden in your wand until you can earn more power. Earning power points in this game is easy in some aspects. You can either heal yourself in your provided temple, or you can find a healing herb that are strategically placed in hidden places and are only useful to its specified power holder. They are very rare and can’t be collected but are a use as needed type. The health bar is located right under the power bar, followed by the specialties bar. This bar is only for specials and ultimate attacks that can only be used when teaming up with another player. It allows only one super attack within an hour time span. However, you can also raise your specialty bar by using combos on your opponent. It fills up very slowly depending on the way that you fight. Sometimes a full-on force attack can be helpful, but the slower your attacks and the longer the length between each attack, the longer it takes to fill your specialty bar. When using an ultimate, the character that you will try to combine with has to have the same amount of energy in their special bar as you in order to complete. If the bars are not at the same level, there is a possibility that the attack will diffuse and not actually be as effective as it should be. However, it will still use all of your specialty energy. The enemies in the game will range from basic beasts and warriors of the dark and/or light and will range in style. They will look similar to what is on our planet today, but will be slightly enhanced. The beasts will sometimes be able to walk on their hind legs as human and be able to use magic blasts from their mouths. The warriors will be the bosses and will me a more challenging opponent to beat. They typically can do magic and are usually stronger than you, so that it causes you to use strategy. The final boss of a level is sometimes a master of a certain power and will most of the time not be defeated by small attacks. In combat, the beasts can be killed in 4-5 direct hits or 7-8 indirect hits. The warriors can be killed in 5-6 direct hits or 9-10 indirect hits. The bosses will take a series of hits, the number is undefined as it will depend on your skill set and strategy. The gore of this game will be medium to high for it will be a game with an “T” rating. There will be some blood and a few severing of bones, as well as a few burnings and tearing of appendages. Development This game will be made for the XBOX, Playstation, and PC simultaneously. They will run mostly outdoor environments as that is where most, if not all, of the combat is fought. Plot The game will begin with the player picking a character based on their preferred power, naming him or her, and personalizing the character through the outfits and facial features. Opening Scene Visual The player is in front of city hall for in Salem Massachusetts. They are surrounded by many people of the same age and similar clothing type. The city hall is surrounded by winding streets and roads that lead down different paths. One target pops up in the distance. The player moves towards the target and takes his or her aim. The target is a small bulls-eye target, a red and white disk, moves from side to side. The player takes aim. The player shoots at the target based on their power and knocks it down. He looks at the grand wizard for approval. Audio A man surrounded in golden light descends from the clouds and talks in a calm tone: “Take your shot and destroy the target. This will help me to guide you down the right path young wizard.” Narration An information bubble appears under the character telling the player how to aim and shoot at the target. This will fire a shot based on the character’s power. The angelic guy comply encourages the player to aim carefully and precisely. “It’s ok young wizard, take your time and focus.” No narration. “Well done young wizard!” The grand wizard says what type of magic that the character possess and directs him down a path. “This path will take you to the school that is best for you. Follow it, but be careful of what may be lurking.” Arrows appear under the character’s feet directing him to his path. An information bubble appears telling the character to watch out for small animals that may be hostile. They are to be destroyed. The next scene is the character walking down the path that leads to their school. A few steps in a small rabbit pops out from behind a tree. It appears to be helpless until it jumps at you and tries to bite you. This rabbit has the ability to bite and kick with force. You must use the one power that you have at the moment, a small blast that deals very minimal damage. This rabbit takes about 2 precise hits to defeat. This is one of 3 seemingly precious creatures that will appear. The character comes to a gate with a symbol that represents their element. Once you enter the gate, it will then transport you to the school that houses the professors of your certain power. At this school, you will learn the basics of how to use your power and how to summon. However, with the summoning, you will only be able to summon the lowest of spells. At the fire school you will learn to accurate shoot fire balls and use a fire wheel. At the water school you will learn how to shoot water blasts and use a water whip. At the earth school you will learn how to fling rocks and how to move the rocks under a person. At the wind school you will learn how to shoot gusts of air accurately and how to move the clouds around you. At the spirit school you will learn how to shoot a focus blast and to use the third eye to stun a person. Once you finish the training, you will be sent back through the gate that you came through where you will be confronted by a leader of the dark forces and a leader of the light forces. Both of them will be trying to persuade you to their side of the fight that has started since you were in school. The dark force will be persuading you by offering you total control over an entire region, or many regions. You will have full reigns and will sit as a direct servant to the over lord. However the light force will trying to convince you by emphasizing that everyone should live in peace and harmony. You will not have full reigns in the dark world and will most likely be a slave like they are trying to make the rest of us. They will be offering you total freedom. Once you choose which side you are on, the game begins with the opposite force sending its weak and small warriors after you. They want to stop the threat before it gets too large. That is when you will have to put your training into action. From then on, you are moving from place to place on our earth, and then from planet to planet. There will many side quests in each new area that are optional. These side quests will optional and will give you the chance to gain extra experience points and further your skills. The story eventually leads to a black hole that was being formed by the dark lord to suck all of the evil out of the universe. There, it would be best to have a team of high level and skilled people because there you will have to battle with and defeat the over lord of the evil side or the golden leader of the good side. Sample Mission The character lands on the coast of Africa where they are surrounded by their opposing forces. The ultimate goal is to retrieve the elixir of strength. In order to do this, you must defeat a squad of your opponents, race through the jungle dodging flying animals that are aimed at your head, and battle against cougars who are guarding the clearing that the elixir sits in. The final part of the mission is to fight the boss who is the guardian of the elixir itself. This boss just happens to be giant with a nasty temper. Team Play This game allows a lot of team play and even encourages it. In order to have complete an ultimate spell, you must team up with a player on the same side as you but with a different power. Here are a list of powers: Fire Tornado: fire power and wind power Tsunami: Earth power and water power Thunderstorm: Wind power and water power Angelic rush: Wind power and Spirit power (good) Demonic flame: Fire power and Spirit power (evil) Icy Avalanche: Water power and Earth Power Ice Storm: Water power and Wind power Volcano Eruption: Earth power and Fire power Blood Moving: Spirit power and water power Aqua Blast: Fire power and Water power Golden Shower: Spirit power and Water power (good) Black Rain of Death: Spirit power and Water power (evil) Heavenly Gust: Spirit power and Wind power (good) Dark Blow: Spirit power and Wind power (evil) Conclusion This is a game that will appeal to many different styles of gamers. It will appeal to the action gamers as well as the RPG gamers. It will prove to be the must play game of the year.
