Now that we’re mid-way through our experience together, I wanted to give you
time for integration or a slight pause. Though we will cover some new(ish) topics
this month, we are consciously and purposely making this workbook shorter so you
can “catch up” on the things you need to from previous months.

One of the key habits of a successful entrepreneur (and mom!) is also knowing when

BUILD A BRAND AROUND WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPIEST
While we’re still on the topic of making happiness your business, let’s discuss what
this has to do with your message, or better yet, your messaging.
We could say that getting clear on what makes you happy and then building a brand
around that is what authenticity and making “happiness our business” is all about.
So I ask you, how could you do that more in your business? How could you get even
more clear around what makes you happy, what feeds you, what you’re genius at
and what you’re most excited to pursue so that the branding of it becomes that
much more easy too?
Let’s get into a bit of work around that right now, shall we? Let’s start our review
with this question: What makes you happiest? Name three things that make you the
happiest in your business below:
Reviewing what you wrote down, how much work needs to be done to re-arrange
the business in a way so you are in joy (vs. stress) more and more often?
What new person needs to be hired or who needs to step up or in to take certain

There isn’t a mom in the world that doesn’t feel stress or a sense of “disequilibrium”
as a result of all the multi-tasking she does.
She helps with homework and works. She drives multiple children around and drives
her passion. She gets the bag ready and mulls over bagging a project for another
that she’s more passionate about. She makes breakfast as she’s on the phone with
the refrigerator repairman, while also returning an email as the dog chews on her
slipper.
She could add “Everyday Juggler” to her list of titles.

Though it’s easy to say “I know multi-tasking isn’t good for me” or “it doesn’t make
me feel very good while I’m doing it”, it’s not likely any of us will be stopping the
multi-tasking dance anytime soon. It’s how we get as much done as we do, it’s how
our family gets fed and our businesses grow.
So, knowing the multi-tasking situation likely won’t change, how can we replenish
after a month of major multi-tasking?
How do you fill up so that you’re able to give from our overflow again?
Let’s review some simple things you can do to ease into peace, around the chaos,
especially as it pertains to sleep and your diet!
Sleep
MD’s calls sleep deprivation the dark side of parenting. Even when our children are
out of the baby or toddler phase, many moms can’t seem to get enough really good
sleep. Is that you?
Sleep is life giving. It helps us replenish and it also helps us give from our overflow
again.
Here are a few things to do in order to set yourself up for success:
• Stick to a schedule: At least 4-5 days a week, stick to a schedule and be relentless about it. What time do you know you need to get to bed for optimal results the
next day? What time is ideal for you to wake up? Set that schedule and alarm for
each morning and evening for those times. Getting good sleep is vital to being able
to give from overflow and to feel the patience, creativity and problem solving that
comes with it too.
• Pay close attention to what you eat and drink. Don’t go to bed hungry or
stuffed and watch alcohol consumption. Research shows that alcohol can affect
sleep stages, lighten sleep and cause abrupt awakenings.
• Create a bedtime ritual. What would be your dream way to give to yourself
in a healthy, mindful way at the end of the day? Would you like to take a bath after
you put the kids to bed? Fill in your gratitude journal before bed? Listen to calming
music or a guided meditation?

• Create an environment that allows you to fall and stay asleep. Do you
need (want) a cashmere eye mask or earplugs to create white noise and/or a cocoon
for yourself? Are you stopping all computer use at least two hours before you desire
to fall asleep (doctors say that it takes the body at least this amount of time to quiet
and calm after technology). Creating the optimal environment for sleep allows you
to feel much more rested in the morning, not to mention feel more creative and be
quicker at problem solving throughout the day.

7 Ways to Start Experiencing the Power of Food
1. Add raw, living, fresh, organic fruits and vegetables to what you are already doing. Think green juice in the morning, a bowl of berries mid morning, a smoothie
in the afternoon, and a salad before lunch and dinner. The more you add, the
healthier you’ll get in every area!
2. Start your day with a green juice. One glass of green juice has the life force, enzymes, minerals, vitamins and amino acids of several pounds of greens. It cleanses the body, carries oxygen and hydration to the blood, and gives you natural
energy. (Bonus: A shot of wheatgrass is a complete protein.)
3. Whatever you regularly eat now, find ways to UPGRADE your food to its highest quality. For example, goat cheese is an UPGRADE to cow cheese. Sprouted
grain bread is an UPGRADE to wheat bread. An almond milk latte is an UPGRADE to a milk latte. Quinoa is an UPGRADE to brown rice. TLC oatmeal
chocolate chip cookies are an UPGRADE to a mainstream cookie. 70% Dark
Chocolate Bars are an UPGRADE to milk chocolate and candy.
4. Green smoothies can be a perfect afternoon pick me up! Try banana, spinach, almond milk, dates, vanilla extract and ice. Alternatively, add a little raw cacao, or
a couple splashes of left over coffee from the morning to give it a latte or mocha
experience. The key is to mix fruit and greens – the perfect human foods.
5. Learn to food combine. Consider that bloating and extra weight can be significantly reduced with the art of food combining. The most important things to
remember are: fruit does best on an empty stomach, and animal proteins digest
best with greens or veggies, but have a harder time with starches like grains, and
potatoes.
6. Allow avocados into your life. They are clean, beautiful, filling, and can make a
simple salad divine. Or cut in half and add lemon juice and sea salt for a “hit the
spot” snack.
7. Consider HOW we take in our food. As busy, creative mommas, we can easily
find ourselves eating for survival. Taking a moment before we open our mouths
for a deep breath, or a silent moment of gratitude changes the biochemical environment enough to shift HOW our body will break down and absorb the food
we eat. BE the example for your family and friends.

But with how much we have going on in any given day (or half hour!), we can sometimes lose touch with our inspiration; we forget how creative we are and how much
we have in us to create a magical event out of a simple, everyday moment that not
only makes our VIPs feel loved and connected but makes us feel love and connected
too.
One of the best ways to get back to being that joyful Chief Creator of MOMents is
to, as Walking Momtra says, focus on your happiness so you can raise happiness.
And it’s true, it’s a must make time for a self-care and self-nurturing that allows us
to give from our overflow and abundance vs. our lack.

Delegating as much and as fast as you can brings you closer to audacious revenue
goals. As we’ve discussed, though it may seem counter-intuitive or counter-productive, it really is the truth.
As you’re thinking about designing your dream team (this could mean an intern,
part-time VA and accountant/bookkeeper for now -- the team members, in my opinion that are vital to support a six-figure business), it’s important to do it in a mindful
way, bringing back a few of the most important authentic business elements:
purpose, values, brand words, and vision.
Before making a list of the tasks you will need each person to cover off on, let’s
touch base with these elements that will eventually support you in hiring the right
person/people for the business/brand. (The following will also help you create a job
description and also help you interview potential candidates).

Make sure to create your interview questions, job descriptions and to
eventually rally your team around these three: the all-important purpose, company (founder’s) values, and a shared vision.
In a business, your employees don’t start with a shared vision, so make sure everyone is clear about the end goal--and why it matters. Find out why each person cares
about the goal, then use those motivations to drive success.
The same goes with your purpose and values. Make sure that all employees are on
board with the deeper meaning, the why, behind the business and that their values
match the company/founder’s values.

POWERING THROUGH WORRY TO A SOLUTION
This is the exercise I go through to keep me in positive forward motion no matter
what is happening around me. Meet the Powering through Worry to a Solution exercise, a true Creative Heroine exercise.
There are obviously many times throughout our business or daily personal life when
we can be overcome with worry, when a lack mentality takes over and we just can’t
see our way out. In order to feel better, it’s important to honor the feelings (versus
ignore them -- we know that what we resist persists), but as quickly as we can we
also want to honor the solution that is waiting for us just around the corner. This is
what this exercise is all about.
I normally do this exercise on a blank white piece of paper but we’ve created an area on
the following page for you to jump right into it (if you’re a paper girl like me, however,
feel free, of course, to skip this electronic version and move straight to put pen to paper). Easy peasy: write Worry on the left side of the paper and Solution on the right. Get
however many worries you want out of your body, mind and spirit (it’s affecting all three!)
and start to FEEL the options you have for that worry’s solution. You’ll be amazed at
how many solutions you’ll find and how different the you will feel afterward. Your joy and
solutions await.

A SOULFUL HOME
Now that we’re out of worry into solution, ah glorious solution, here are eight (8)
tips for creating a home filled with solution, or in other words, soul. Your soulful
home will infuse your family with loving energy, peace, reflection and connection.
1. Convert an attic or guest room or simply create a corner or window seat in your
living area that is dedicated to self-nourishment and quiet. A space that you deem
“sacred” and that immediately sets the tone for going inward. Whomever is sitting
in this chair or in this space is not to be bothered for at least 15 minutes (or whatever you deem the perfect amount of time for your family). You may hang a screen,
beads, or a billowy curtain to emphasize the importance of the environment as
a place of solitude. This soulful space can be used to receive inner guidance and
knowledge as well as to write, draw, paint, chant, play an instrument, or simply listen to birds sing outside.

2. Add more plants and flowers for energy, color and increased oxygen (having your
husband pick up flowers on a weekly basis is a great way to add a masculine-inspired soul to your home J). More on color…lavender and purple symbolize spirituality, pink opens the heart, green brings in nature’s balance and yellow stimulates
health. Also good to note, plants in your home are not only good for health, but are
known to be linked to happiness too. According to a recent study, the air quality
improves, concentration is better, and compassion and positivity increases too. Lastly, there are many plants that elevate you spiritually. Basil brings luck, protection
and purity to your home. Lavender gives you mental peace, relieves you of negative
emotions. Jasmine attracts love and money. Honeysuckle increases your intuition.
3. Hang pictures of gardens (any body of water, really), mountains, spiritual teachers,
elders or mentors to impart a feeling of connection, groundedness, peace and harmony.
4. Play soft music (way more often) while the family is playing, reading or eating
dinner. As everything else mentioned above, this creates an environment of connection, peace and tranquility.
5. Find the right crystal (not just for spirit junkies!). Here are some fun facts: a blue
turquoise crystal placed in a northeast section of the home draws the right gurus
and support from the universe, placing citrine in the southeast corner of your home
to attract wealth, amethyst amplifies spiritual energies, rose quartz helps attract
love (place it near your bed), jade gives you health and wisdom, black obsidian in the
hall absorbs any negative energy that gathers due to stress, tension and other negative emotions of visitors.
6. Light a lamp or candles.
One great example of an energy-healing light is an Indian lamp, called a “diya,” which
has a cotton wick and ghee for fuel. The combination of ghee and fire produces extremely high spiritual energy, called satvik, the highest form of purity. If you are unable to find a diva lamp, you can light an odd number of candles for a similar effect.
7. Clean with salt water.
Take a teaspoon of sea salt in a spray bottle filled with water. You can clean walls
and windows with it. Apart from taking out dirt, it takes out all the bad energy accumulated due to stress, fights and negative thought processes. Burning sage or palo
santo also has a similar affect.

8. Apart from this, make a weekly appointment with your home to remove clutter
(purge!), for cleansing, taking care of plants and organizing. Just with this task alone,
you’ll feel the soothing effect it will have on your mind and body.
Having a soulful home means having a soulful heart and present mind. Enjoy every
inch of yours!
Here’s to making our home a catalyst for our spiritual journey.
BE THE BEGINNER, FIRE UP YOUR FIRSTS
This may just be one of my favorite moments in our time together. I love being the
beginner and this is most definitely one of the ways to make happiness your business!
If you’re game, Creative Heroine, it’s time to choose ONE thing you can start doing
this month that you’ll be a total beginner at. What have you wanted to try but been
too scared to? What would make you come alive? What doesn’t fall in your wheelhouse that you’re willing to try and have a good laugh about?
Feel the butterflies inside, break out of the rut!
The discomfort you might feel being the beginner is not “bad”, it simply means you
are living outside the blueprint routine has created for you…
Live, Creative Heroine, live, feel the breeze on that skinny branch. J
Most recently for me it’s been taking singing lessons (I do not have a “good” voice)
and before that joining trapeze school (I am crazy afraid of heights!). Crazy? Yes. And
the best!
So, what first will you fire up? How will you be the beginner? Will you learn how to
skateboard for the first time with your son? Try a silks class for the first time with
your daughter? Take a dance class with your partner for the first time? Ask someone
out for maybe the first time? J

Ah, the gift of having a beginner’s mind. With a beginner’s mind we are able to:
Release all pre-conceived notions and opinions
of the way things have to be or should be.
It allows us to invite in not knowing ~ or “I don’t know” ~ into the picture
which creates space, peace and a letting go
(we all can benefit from letting go more).
For a time, we are able to lay our well-rooted beliefs
aside and just play, explore and not know!
The beginner’s mind, also known as the child’s mind, invites in all sorts of unexpected
miracles and surprises…creativity grows and joy overflows!
In short, the beginner’s mind is the Creative Heroine mind, a mind that is present
to the here and now and a mind that recognizes and allows for the possibility that
everything in our lives is of our creation and making. Living outside the box more
consistently (finding things where you can be the beginner often!) ultimately allows
us to come back to our businesses and families with a renewed sense of self, creativity, confidence, fun and light-heartedness which only supports the success, size
of opportunities.
