The following beach access mat, type AFX, specifications are based on those provided by Deschamps Mats
Systems Inc. The brand specified is Mobi-Mat® RecPath™, pedestrian & ADA/ABA access materials as manufactured by Deschamps Mat Systems Inc., 218 Little Falls Rd – Suite 7, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009, phone
973-928-3040. Any proposal shall meet or exceed the specifications herein as determined by the owner or
the owner’s representative. Alternate/substitute materials will be considered for approval; however; it will
be the sole discretion of the owner or owner’s representative to determine if such a proposal for alternate/
substitute materials is acceptable.
All bidders/vendors/contractors requesting approval of alternate/substitution on this project must submit
all information and certifications as required and specified herein TEN DAYS prior to Bid or Due date for
approval by owner or owner's representative. Submittal packages that do not include all the required information will be returned and will not be considered for use.

MATERIAL: made of 100% recycled polyester, Mobi-Mat® RecPath™ contributes to the
environment by utilizing recycled plastics and is also recyclable.
NON-SLIP SURFACING: the unique AFX design, woven into a three dimensional patented
structure, provides great traction and a non-slip stable surfacing on unstable surfaces
such as sand or when used on slopes.
DIMENSIONS: 60”(5’) or 78”(6.5’) wide by various lengths of 16.5’, 33’, 50’, 82’ and 100’ long.

• CONNECTORS PROPERTIES for SLOPE APPLICATIONS
C-shaped™ and X-shaped™ Mobi-Mat® Connectors shall be provided at the extremities of
the matting material to facilitate connection between two mats.
The connectors shall be manufactured of a recycled plastic fabric.

• GROMMETS:
High quality stainless steel eyelets or grommets with a soft curved edge shall be provided
at the extremities of the matting material to anchor it to the ground. Stainless steel is
100% recyclable
Stainless steel does not corrode, rust or stain with water or seawater as ordinary steel does,
even combined with direct sun effect.
Mobi-Mat® grommet sizes: Mobi-Mat® grommet pulling strength : internal diameter: 035⁄64 in,
external diameter: 17⁄64 in
0,55 tonf traction per grommet.
Each grommet is fitted with stainless steel teeth. 5.5 ton are applied during Mobi-Mat®
grommets installation into the mat, allowing maximum pulling strength to hold the mat
securely in place once all grommets are set.

• ANCHORS/STAPLES/SPIKES:
Anchors shall be provided to facilitate the installation of the access pathway. These anchors/staples or spikes shall be manufactured from bichromated 3/8” steel rod which will
extend approximately 20” into the sub-surface.

to grab it quickly.

• EASY INSTALLATION, STORAGE & HANDLING
EASY INSTALLATION:
Mobi-Mat® RecPath AFX™ shall be light weight (0.27 lbs/sqft.) and shall be capable of
being installed in less than ten minutes per roll by two people.
Rolls shall be of such size and weight that they may be manageably moved by two
people.
The material shall be capable of being installed on any type of ground surface, regardless of the ground surface stability.
MAINTENANCE FREE:
The mat requires little or no maintenance under normal conditions.
The mat shall be brushed off before storage. The use of a broom, blower or pressure
washer shall be the only equipment required to clear the surface of any debris, should
any accumulate.
STORAGE :
No specific storage requirements. The mat can be rolled up and stored outside.
