(WAGNER) The Chancel Choir Come, let us sing and make a joyful noise to God! Come let us sing! *CALL to WORSHIP One: The Lord Jesus Christ is our shepherd. All: He lays down his life for his sheep. One: Surely goodness and mercy are with us, All: and we will live in God’s house forever. Denise Alexander *HYMN 416—Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation WESTMINISTER ABBEY *PRAYER of CONFESSION—Unison God of all hope and joy, we confess that we continue to live in fear. We speak of your great love, but our own hearts condemn us. We express concern for the poor, but our own actions betray us. Forgive us, God of grace. Good Shepherd, restore our souls and lead us in right paths for your name’s sake. *SILENT PRAYERS of CONFESSION Here each worshiper may offer silent prayers of confession. *RESPONSE—Amen (DANISH) The Chancel Choir *ASSURANCE of FORGIVENESS One: Hear the good news. Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us. Christ rose for us. Christ reigns in power for us. Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life is gone; a new life has begun. Know that you are forgiven, and be a peace. All: Amen. *RESPONSE to GOD’S PARDON 567—Glory Be to the Father *THE PEACE 3 GLORIA PATRI One: All: One: The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you. Let us greet one another with the peace of Christ. As a sign of their reconciliation in Christ, the people share the peace of Christ, greeting one another with these or similar words: “The peace of Christ be with you,” “Peace be with you,” or simply, “Peace.” L I T U R GY of the W OR D PRAYER for ILLUMINATION PSALTER READING—Psalm 23 One: This is the Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. (Old Testament, pages 474-475) ANTHEM—Draw Us In The Spirit’s Tether (FRIEDELL) The Chancel Choir Draw us in the Spirit’s tether; for when humbly, in thy name, two or three are met together, Thou art in the midst of them: Alleluia! Alleluia! Touch we now thy garment’s hem. As disciples used to gather in the name of Christ to sup, then with thanks to God the Father break the bread and bless the cup, Alleluia! Alleluia! So knit thou our friendship up. All our meals and all our living Make as sacraments of thee, that by caring, helping, giving, we may true disciples be. Alleluia! Alleluia! We will serve thee faithfully. TIME for YOUNG DISCIPLES Children in grades K-2 may leave for Cherub Choir in Room 104. EPISTLE READING—1 John 3: 16–24 One: This is the Word of the Lord. Our Food Center benefits greatly from this Food Drive, and we need volunteers to help us to unload, sort and move the food to MPC. Volunteers are needed May 9 for shifts that run between noon and 8:00 p.m. First, help is needed at the Morrisville YMCA building to sort the incoming food and load. Then MPC’s portion is driven to our church, where volunteers are needed to unload the trucks. For insurance reasons volunteers at the Y must be at least 18; but at MPC teens can volunteer to unload the trucks. A sign-up sheet is available in the Communication Center. Contact Jack Glock, 215-736-0357, for more information. Thank you! CLOTHING CENTER The last day for Clothing Center donations will be May 31.
