From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear brothers and sisters,
One of my favorite scriptures is from the Prophet Jeremiah:
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your
welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Jeremiah 29:11
(NRSV).
I am happy to announce that our church is doing well. We can rejoice that we continue
to grow in spirit, giving, and in serving. It’s apparent that our church is in a wonderful
season of abundance as we grow into the plans that God holds for our church.

As I pen this letter, a crew of roofers are installing our new roof! How cool is that! And
the real good news is - IT’S PAID FOR! Yes, we have the funds available to install 50
year shingles on our sanctuary roof and to reseal both of the flat roofs. God continues
to bless us as we come together to do the work that God has set before us.

But, the work doesn’t stop there! We are underway getting bids to repaint our sanctuary,
to remodel the chancel area, and to install a new sound system. More information to
come.

Planning for the birth of our Heritage Foundation is underway. Watch for additional
details as the planning continues.

On August 17th we were blessed to receive our latest class of new members! Please see
photo and new member information on page 3.

To help us in our stewardship we are now able to receive our offerings through
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). It’s very easy to set up and one can make either
automatic weekly or monthly offerings. Please call Donna in the office for more
information or Janelle Henson at 815-440-8282. The form to sign up is available in our
Connection Centre, located inside the chapel.
As we can see there is a lot going on!

gather at 10 o’clock on
Friday mornings to
make sandwiches that
Firehouse will provide
for the children in our neighborhoods
on Saturdays.

Dear Rock Falls UMC Church Family:
The family of William A. Luther wish to thank you all for
your kind words, love, cards and messages in the
recent weeks of our husband, father, grandfather and
great grandfather's illness and at the time of his
death. We would especially like to thank Pastor Rich for assisting with the
funeral and for coming to be our family at the visitation in Ottawa. The funeral
service and tribute was beautiful. Also a special thank you to Deb Reinhardt for
coming to the visitation and being there with us. All of your love and support will
always be remembered by our family at our time of need.
