Explore occupations using the Bullseye posters
Introduction
The purpose of this activity is to introduce you to the information available about occupations on
myfuture through the areas of study.
Objectives
•
To encourage exploration of the wide range of occupations available on the myfuture
website.
•
To help you gain awareness of the scope of choices associated with occupations.
•
To help you understand the relationship between areas of study and occupations.
Education and training levels
Before you begin this activity, familiarise yourself with the 4 education and training levels:
•
Level 1 usually has a skill level equal to the completion of Year 10, a Certificate I, or
Certificate II qualification. Australian Apprenticeships may also be offered at this level.
•
Level 2 usually has a skill level equal to a Certificate III, Certificate IV, or at least 3 years of
relevant experience. Australian Apprenticeships may also be offered at this level.
•
Level 3 usually requires a level of skill equal to a Diploma or Advanced Diploma. Study is
often undertaken through TAFEs or Registered Training Organisations. Some universities
offer studies at this level.
•
Level 4 usually requires the completion of a Bachelor Degree or higher qualification. Study is
often undertaken at university.

Instructions
1. Go to http://www.myfuture.edu.au/bullseye-posters
For each subject area you will see two links: one for a ‘list of occupations’ and one for the
‘bullseye poster’.
2. Select the ‘bullseye poster’ link to open up a PDF version of the Bullseye poster. These
posters display the occupation titles and the training and education requirements available
in the chosen subject area.
3. Examine the poster carefully, noting the concentric circles. What do they mean?
4. Now open the link to the corresponding list of occupations in your chosen subject area. This
list is broken into the four education and training levels, and provides direct links to the
occupation profile pages contained within the ‘Explore careers’ section of the myfuture
website.
5. Select three occupations that you would like to explore further. Answer the questions below
by locating the required information within each occupation profile.
Questions
•
Name at least three of the duties and tasks for this occupation.
•
What are two related occupations?
•
What related courses exist? Name at least three.
