LEARNING MAPS PROJECT
Both Miss Winnie and Mr Botha have been participating in a project with Auckland University with 25
students. The Learning Maps Project aims to:
·
support students, teachers and families to use their learning maps to actively change their learning
environments,
·
build an understanding of how using the student learning map enables students to take active
responsibility for their learning and make positive changes to their learning environments, and
·
build our understanding of teacher, school leader, parent and Whānau perspectives on how they
can best support students in modern-day learning.
On Tuesday we had our first ‘Learning Map’ session along with approximately 120 other students from
other schools and colleges. From the feedback I have received from staff, students and whanau is that
the workshop was very successful and we look forward to hearing more as the project progresses.
INTER SCHOOL SOCCER TOURNAMENT
This week we had two teams represent Naenae Intermediate at the Intermediate Inter school Soccer
Tournament, held at Wakefield Park in Island Bay. Our boy’s team played 3 games and whilst we lost all
3 games they played exceptionally well and were fantastic ambassadors for our school. The girl’s team
played 4 games and lost 1 and drew the other 3. Thank you to Mr Botha for coaching and organising
both teams.
Congratulations to the following students who represented our school: Jono Little, Bryant Tarun, Colin
Macmillan, Bryon Burns-Kennedy, Alex Greenfield, Habibullah Isamatullah, Liban Ali, Harley Troke,

We had our first mass choir practice yesterday. All but 24 students are involved in this year’s
production. A newsletter with more information will come home early next term for those involved.
The cast will be finalised early next term. School Production will be held 21-24 September 2015.
If you have any old make-up that you no longer need please drop it off to the school office. Thank you.
