RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE HEARTFELT SADNESS AND PROFOUND SORROW OF
THE OFFICIALS AND PEOPLE OF NAGA OVER THE PASSING OF ANGELES J.
AUREUS, BELOVED WIFE OF THE FIRST MAYOR OF THE CITY OF NAGA, LEON
SA. AUREUS:On joint and collective motion
WHEREAS, amidst the celebration of the New Year, the people
and officialdom of Naga were filled with grief upon learning of
the passing of Angeles J. Aureus, 93, wife of the first mayor of
Naga City, Leon SA. Aureus;
WHEREAS, as partner of the city’s war hero and first mayor,
Leon SA. Aureus, Angeles J. Aureus contributed significantly to
the foundation of Naga as a Maogmang Lugar;
WHEREAS, developing a lifelong interest in journalism,
community work and politics, Angeles J. Aureus promoted the welfare
of the Filipinos even abroad, particularly in Canada where she
spent the last years of her life;
WHEREAS, in Canada, she held leadership positions in numerous
socio-civic organizations, such as the Hamilton Filipino Seniors,
Filipino Aspirations of Rizal, Silayan Canadian Filipinos,
Filipino Parents, Ontario Filipino Women’s Club and Filipino
Seniors Ladies of Rizal;
WHEREAS, her kindness, compassion and humour were the source
of strength and inspiration of her children and grandchildren;
WHEREAS, Angeles J. Aureus’ passing is a great loss to her
family, relatives, friends and to the society as a whole;
WHEREAS, the 11th Sangguniang Panlungsod and Officialdom of
the City Government of Naga join the bereaved family in offering
fervent prayers for the eternal repose of Angeles J. Aureus;
NOW, THEREFORE, on joint and collective motion of the Members
of the 11th Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Naga;
BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, to express the
heartfelt sadness and profound sorrow of the officials and of the
people
of Naga over the passing of Angeles J. Aureus, beloved
wife of the first mayor of the City of Naga, Leon SA. Aureus,
extending our deep condolences to her bereaved family.
LET COPIES of this resolution be furnished the bereaved family
of the late Angeles J. Aureus, through her grandson, Leon B. Aureus
III, for their information and as a record for posterity.
UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
