Gatherings for families with profoundly gifted children Each summer, for a few special days, a community of families with profoundly gifted children gather at a PG Retreat. Now with three locations! All year long, we look forward to coming together with other parents and their PG children from all over the country, for community and shared experiences. PG Retreat events are organized by our families, whose volunteer contributions make us feel like integral members of the community. Profoundly gifted children often have a difficult time finding true peers within their day-to-day communities. Our gatherings have limited enrollment to provide children an intimate opportunity to meet and spend time learning, socializing, and playing with other children who are developmentally advanced. Siblings are welcome at these inclusive, family-based gatherings. Our main retreats offer: n Guest speakers and discussion sessions for adults on raising and educating profoundly gifted children n Activities for children, teens, and adults; arts and crafts, games, and exercise n Buffet-style meals in a pleasant group setting; accommodation for special diets n Evening events like a talent show and dance; nature trails for hiking and other activities n Opportunities to visit, talk with others, and connect in a warm and casual atmosphere Our non-profit, all-volunteer organization serves families with intellectually gifted children, but our focus is on social-emotional connections rather than on academics. Columbus Group member Michele Kane advises our Board, and gifted professionals like P. Susan Jackson and Linda Silverman often speak at PG Retreats and spend time with the community. This summer, there are three amazing ways to get together with other PGR families. We have two main summer retreats, at Glen Eyrie and at Graylyn. And we’re offering a different kind of “family camping experience” at Camp Augusta in Northern California. Please visit pgretreat.com to learn more.
