We have some wonderful activities coming up and hope you can get involved in them! Gratitude Corner: Thank you to all of the 1st grade parent volunteers that helped out with the Teacher Luncheon last month. It was great! Upcoming Events 4/6-PTO Meeting 3:30-4:30: Babysitting is provided along with a snack for the kids. EVERYONE is welcome. Please come to help us plan the last two months of the year. 4/17- Teacher Luncheon: This month the kindergarten classes are in charge. Please look for the volunteerspot email that will inform you of the needs for this luncheon! The teachers love this! 4/20-Science Fair Event: Look for information to be sent home about this new event we are bringing to the school. 5/4-5/8 Teacher Appreciation Week: Look for all the ways that you can help make this week great. 5/4-PTO Meeting and Elections: Babysitting is provided along with a snack for the kids. EVERYONE is welcome. Please come to help us plan the last month of the year. 5/16 School Carnival 5:30-8:30pm: There will be Bussing from Cynthia Mann again this year! Don’t miss out on this great family night and our last fundraiser of the year! Teacher Luncheons: April- Kindergarten May-PTO Science Fair: This is going to be a wonderful experience for everyone involved! This will be taking the place of a talent show this year. There will be an information packet with outline sent home, we encourage all students to participate in this activity! There will be several positions that need to be filled. Please consider getting involved, it is an experience that you will love and feel great about! Volunteer Spot: Volunteer Spot is a wonderful way to connect our parents/guardians with opportunities to volunteer for activities without overburdening you with multiple emails and requests. We will send out one email through Volunteer Spot for all of our volunteer opportunities each month. You will click into the website from our email. You will then be prompted to enter your email address to confirm that you are going to be directed to our school’s volunteer sign up calendar. From there you just click on the openings and sign up. You will also receive a reminder email for what you sign up for as well. Box Tops & Labels for Education: Don’t forget to send in your Box Tops and Labels for Education. If you have any questions contact Mary Rossiter at [email protected] . There will be a prize for the class with the most Box Tops/Labels for Education turned in. What: Pierce Park students are invited to participate in our first “Smoothie Recipe Contest!” Where: Pierce Park Cafeteria When: Friday, May 1st. 8:15 a.m. Why: Students are encouraged to write an original recipe for a nutritious smoothie. Recipes (including parents signature) must be submitted to the office no later than Wednesday, April 29th. How: Students will come to school with their PREPARED smoothie at 8:15 am on Friday, May 1st. Please make enough for 5 judges. Judging will take place at 8:30 am. April 29th. Donate to the readbox / Visit the readbox! Students at Pierce Park Elementary have been enjoying the school Take and Share Bookshelf (the readbox). The readbox is located in the front entrance of the school. It is a place where students may donate books that they no longer want OR may take books that they would like to read! It is time for Spring cleaning! Please consider donating any books that your child no longer wants to our school readbox! Other students will LOVE reading books that your child no longer wants to keep. Donated books may be dropped off in the library with Mrs. Jones. LAST CALL FOR YEARBOOK PICTURES The Pierce Park yearbook committee needs more pictures! This will be the final request for Yearbook pictures as the deadline to receive your submissions is quickly approaching! If you have attended any school functions (music program, class parties, field trips) and have taken pictures, please consider sending them to the yearbook committee at [email protected]. The final date to submit pictures to the committee will be Monday, April 6, 2015. Practice Makes Perfect! The spring IRI/CBM testing is scheduled to take place on April 23rd and 24th. This would be a great time for students to begin extra reading time at home in order to prepare for these state reading tests. This will be the final IRI/CBM testing that will take place for this school year. Pierce Park Elementary Cost: $40.00 Class Times & Dates: Mondays 3:30 – 5:00pm April 13 – May 18 Does your child like a lot of different art activities? In this class we bring our favorite art projects together in one art class. Create one-of-a-kind projects in clay, painting, drawing, sculpture and much more. All materials provided.
