Gateway to New Zealand: Manukau Institute of Technology partners
Date: April 29th, 2015 Gateway to New Zealand: Manukau Institute of Technology partners with Indian Institute A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT), Auckland, NZ and Arwachin World Business School (AWBS), New Delhi, India. This agreement will allow Indian sub-continent students for the first time to begin their degree studies in India and conclude it in New Zealand. It will give students a unique opportunity to internationalise their degree and add to the global work-force. MIT is one of New Zealand’s largest and most prestigious government institutes of technology. MIT has 16 000 students enrolled per annum with over 1000 international students studying business, information technology, engineering, maritime and culinary programmes. AWBS is a highly reputed and recognised education provider with experienced faculty and state of the art infrastructure facilities. Both institutions share similar values and approach towards global education, with more than 100 years of collective experience of imparting quality education. John Wadsworth, Dean, Faculty of Business and IT at MIT said “This pathway provides a unique opportunity for the students to not only gain a qualification from New Zealand, but also to gain hands on, practical experience through internship/research project. This is a core part of MIT’s curriculum, giving students a huge advantage for future employability in New Zealand.” Students will be guided in transition to MIT by Project Leapfrog the organisation who engineered the project and will have a base at the AWBS campus in New Delhi. “Project Leapfrog will be central to the success of this arrangement as they will provide on-site guidance and support to the students,” said John after signing the MoU last week. The agreement allows the students to study the first year of their Bachelor Degree in India. On completion of the first year, the students will transition to MIT in New Zealand for their subsequent years of study. The students graduate with a Bachelor of Applied Management from MIT.
