Issuance Date: 5th May 2015 US Embassy Grant Number: S-MY300-14-GR-037 EOI Number: USEG 01-2015 Post: SOGIE Facilitator for PT Foundation-ISEAN Hivos Programme (PTF-IHP), “Strengthening community systems to reduce vulnerability to and impact of HIV infection on MSM and TG in the Islands of Southeast Asia” (ISEAN-Hivos Program)” REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Access to health care is a basic human right. However, the LGBT community in Malaysia continues to struggle for access to sexual health services be it from the private or government health care setting. The community continuously receives stigma and discrimination by the society in general, and sad to say, even by health care providers (HCPs), in particular. To address this issue, the civil society sector has conducted pockets of workshops and seminars aimed at empowering these affected communities by letting them understand why they are who they are, the various factors affecting them and how they can exercise their basic human rights. One such initiative is the conduct of a Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression (SOGIE) Workshop in May 2015 in Kuching, Sarawak by PT Foundation’s ISEAN Hivos Program (IHP) under its US Embassy Grant Number: S-MY300-14-GR-037. It is in this light that PTF-IHP team calls for expressions of interest from qualified applicants to assist in addressing this issue in the state of Sarawak by facilitating said workshop. Tasks and Responsibilities of the Facilitator for SOGIE in Kuching: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Work with PTF IHP to better understand the profile of the potential participants Identify suitable areas/topics of SOGIE and human rights which the potential participants should be trained in Develop/package suitable modules/sessions related to the areas/topics identified in Item 2 Facilitate the workshop over 3 full days with the assistance of the IHP team Produce a Facilitator End of Engagement Report with recommendations for next steps Key Qualifications 1. Proven track record and experience in facilitating SOGIE workshops especially for MSM and or TG communities 2. Demonstrated experience and familiarity with MSM and TG rights and issues especially of those from Sarawak 3. Experience in NGO work focused on HIV and AIDS and on MSM and TG issues 4. Relevant experience as well as in community organizing / community development 5. Fluent in written and spoken English and Malay preferably with the ability to converse in local Sarawak dialects and street language 6. Preferably TG, gay, bisexual or other MSM. The selected facilitator shall be engaged for said workshop scheduled on 21-23 May 2015. All expenses to be incurred in the fulfillment of the above tasks and responsibilities shall be borne by PTF-IHP.
