I have not received any reports from the Flotilla Staff Officers to date. 2). I have contacted the flotilla commanders of the Division that do not have Human Recourse Officers explaining the importance of having the position filled but have not received a reply of their work in doing so. Flotillas 10-5 and 10-6 currently have no HR reps listed on their website. 3). I need to be notified from flotilla commanders on their recruitment and retention activities so I can forward this information up the chain. 4). There is a new version of the enrollment application (ANSC-7001). Make sure that members are using the latest version (available on-line). Old versions will not be accepted after June. SO-DV Report 1. This is the last reminder that the June 30 deadline for submitting the documents for the NACO 3 Star Award for Excellence in Diversity is due June 30. If I can help in any way with submissions, please make sure to ask. 2. The Valor Games, May 29-June 1, were an impressive experience. My wife, Marcia, and I participated in the activities and events on all four days of the games. Simone Adair, DSO-HR, was the Volunteer Coordinator. There was a booth for the Auxiliary and several Auxiliarists participated. In my rather long life I have never experienced an event where the respect and unity among athletes, volunteers and program directors was so complete. None of the usual differences that we often find separating us had any effect on the participants in that activity. Anyone interested in seeing an example of a flawless atmosphere regarding Diversity should try to attend at least one of the days next year. The games were all on Coast Guard Island, Alameda, California and it appears that this will continue in future years. Coast Guard support was complete and gracious. 3. I am continuing to ask Division Commanders to try to fill in any Division or Flotilla vacancies for the Diversity Staff Officer positions. I will be glad to help anyone who feels that they are not familiar with the Diversity program. 4. We completed the Sailing classes for 22 students from University High School in Fresno. Both the teachers who are leading this program and the students who participate represent an outreach effort with regard to the Auxiliary and Water Safety. We also tried to pass on some of the issues involved with America’s Water Way Watch. This is the 4 th time we have presented this class in the last two years. The classes were completed on May 29.
