Conroe ISD Elementary Summer School Programs Passport to Learning: Title I Purpose: The purpose of Passport to Learning for Title I students is to enhance skills needed in the areas of reading, writing, math, and science. Dates/Times of Sessions: June 10 – July 2, 2015 Monday – Friday Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuition: None Course Offerings: Grades K – 6th Title I General Education Locations Campus will serve: Current Grades: Ford Elementary Ford, Glen Loch, and Hailey K – 4th Houser Elementary Houser and Oak Ridge K – 4th Houston Elementary Anderson, Houston, and Patterson K – 3rd Milam Elementary Austin, Creighton, Milam, and San Jacinto K – 2nd Reaves Elementary Giesinger, Reaves, and Rice K – 4th Wilkinson Elementary Armstrong, Runyan, and Wilkinson K – 4th Grangerland Intermediate Austin, Creighton, Grangerland, Milam, and San Jacinto Anderson, Bozman, Cryar, Houston, Patterson, and Travis 3rd – 6th Travis Intermediate 4th – 6th Registration: Invitations for summer school have been sent through the Campus Contacts at the local campus. Transportation: Bus transportation will be provided for students as in the regular school year. Summer School Guidelines: 1. Student slots have been predetermined and allocated to each campus. 2. Student selection criteria is based on DRA reading levels, benchmarks, common assessments, and STAAR results. 3. Students who miss more than three days will be withdrawn from the program. 4. A report card will be issued at the end of the program to communicate progress. 5. The determination of whether a student passes to the next grade is determined by the home campus. 6. Students will be properly dressed and groomed according to the standards of the regular school term. 7. CISD Code of Conduct rules will apply. This four and one-half hour model focuses on best practices in reading intervention and all the components of CISD READS. Whole group and small group instruction, along with individual intervention, will take place daily. Ongoing assessment will provide continuous monitoring of student progress. Dates/Times of Sessions: June 10 – June 23, 2015 Monday – Friday Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuition: None Course Offerings: Grade 5 reading intervention for students needing to take the third administration of the Reading STAAR. Locations Campus will serve: Houser Elementary Collins, Cox, Deretchin, Houser, Mitchell, Tough, Vogel, and Wilkerson Grangerland Intermediate Grangerland Travis Intermediate Bozman, Cryar, Stewart, and Travis Registration: Students will be registered for Reading Camp during each student’s Grade Placement Committee Meeting scheduled by the campus principal in late May or early June. Transportation: Bus transportation will be provided for students as in the regular school year. Reading Camp Guidelines: 1. Students are required by TEA to receive an intensive, targeted reading intervention program prior to taking the third administration of the Grade 5 Reading STAAR on June 23, 2015. 2. Students eligible for Reading Camp are provided reading intervention prior to taking the third reading STAAR test. 3. Students will be properly dressed and groomed according to the standards of the regular school term. 4. CISD Code of Conduct rules apply. 5. Dates/Times of Sessions: June 10 – July 2, 2015 Monday - Friday Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Location: Houser Elementary Description of Course Current Grades During 2014-2015 Tuition This course offers instruction for 1st – 6th grades in reading, math, and science for students needing additional intervention. 1st – 6th $200.00 Registration: Applications to be completed online at: www.cisdkidquest.com Students will be registered in the grade level they were enrolled during the 2014-2015 school year. Registration will begin April 14, 2015 and will end May 27, 2015. Refunds will not be processed after June 2, 2015. Transportation: Transportation is not provided. Parents/guardians will be responsible for transporting students to and from Kid Quest. During the camp, students will use some Web 2.0 web sites for educational purposes. CISD Elementary Summer School Programs 9 3/25/15 Conroe ISD Elementary Summer School Programs Special Education - Elementary and Secondary Extended School Year Services (ESY) Purpose: Extended School Year Services (ESY) are provided under the provision of educational services beyond the regular school year, designed to minimize the loss of acquired critical skills of students with disabilities who have demonstrated significant regression/recoupment problems. This service is based on the identified needs of individual students. The ARD Committee considers the need for ESY services annually. Dates/Times of Sessions: This is an individual ARD Committee decision. June 15 – July 2 (Monday – Thursday) July 20 – August 6 (Monday – Thursday) Location: Wilkinson Elementary: For all elementary and intermediate campuses. Tuition: None Course Offerings: Special education services, as determined by the student’s ARD meeting. Peet Junior High School: For all junior high and high school campuses.
