Elementary Principal’s Note
November 13, 2015
I hope that everyone had a great week and took time on Wednesday to
thank a Veteran for all they do for us. We had a great assembly at the
elementary and want to thank everyone who joined us. We had several
Veterans in attendance and the students did a great job! A big thank you to
the staff who helped organize the assembly and prepare the students for the
day.
We would like to thank the Miles Legion Auxiliary for providing three new
books for our library. They provided
Knowledge in a Nutshell on America,
Penelope The Grumpy Pony, and Under One Flag A Journey from 9/11 to
the Heartland.
Under One Flag features an entire section for Zachary
Reiff, Marine killed in action on November 21, 2012. It is a great tribute to
Zach and all Heros!
We will be starting a new drop off procedure for all elementary students
dropped off by parents in Miles
on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.
We are asking that parents drop their students off at the main doors
(West doors by the pine trees) or the office to start their day. If you would like to talk to your child’s
teacher, we ask that you sign in at the office when dropping off your child and take a visitors pass.
This

will reduce the traffic through the building and help us maintain a secure environment for our students.
Thank you in advance for your support!
Emilia Feller, Aleah Johnson, and Lindsey Reuter will be representing the elementary at the
sectional spelling bee at Clark University in January. Good luck ladies!
We will once again have a Book Fair during the elementary holiday concert. More
information will be coming home with students as the time gets closer.
Patti Hoffman has volunteered to collect Sunny D
labels to provide teachers with free classroom
books. If you have any labels at home please feel
free to send them to the office by next week in order
for us to get them processed in time. Mrs. Johnson
received a set of books for the 2nd grade classroom.
A big shout out to Patti Hoffman for organizing this
program for us.
Kindergarten students took time after the assembly
to shake Veterans hands and thank them for their
service. We would like to thank everyone who donated to the Kotton Kandy for Kale
fundraiser. At our assembly on Friday, we announced that over 1,700 dollars was
raised through the kotton kandy fundraiser and jeans donation from EV staff. Along
with the monetary donations, we also purchased a tote full of games and toys for Kale
to have to make his stay a little more enjoyable.
