Engineering Entrepreneurship course added!
Interested in the process of commercializing a technology-based idea? ENGR 451 will prepare students
to identify and evaluate commercial opportunities in the earliest stages of their development. The
emphasis will be on the methods necessary for rapid iteration and market validation of early-stage
prototypes. This quarter will focus on opportunities in the healthcare industry, using microprocessorbased designs in biomedical applications. Prerequisites are negotiable, as this class will benefit from a
variety of disciplines. Senior standing desired. Class meets W/F 2:10-4 in 186-C200. If interested,
please attend the first class.**

Seeking EPIC Lab Instructors (See Attached)
EPIC is a high school summer camp run on Cal Poly's campus. It allows high school students to
experience college life while taking classes in different engineering departments. In previous years
BMED professors have been able to offer a BMED lab during EPIC, unfortunately this year no professors
are able participate.
Lab instructors are paid! Attached are the details about payment and more information about EPIC.

Day and we need a lot of volunteers! The event will take place from 8:45 am
- 12:45 pm at the ATL (bldg 7) and at various locations on the Cal Poly
campus.
We need volunteers to help with check in, lead the engineering activities,
serve as a group leader for the troops, and assist with clean up!

Our meeting times have moved! We are now hosting two meetings, Monday 3-4pm and Monday 5-6pm,
both in 21-122A. This coming Monday, we will be going over diabetic emergencies, and teaching how
glucometers work. Also, we have launched our website, and will be posting jobs, volunteer opportunities,
ride along opportunities, and more.

April Sexual Awareness Month Events (See Attached)
This year the focus of SAAM is on campus sexual
assault. This makes it even more important that we use our role as faculty
and staff to help end sexual assault at Cal Poly and in our SLO community.
I have highlighted some of our main events. Hope to see you there!
Monday, April 20th 7pm (The Palm Theater): *The Hunting Ground, *from the
makers of The Invisible War comes a startling exposé of rape crimes on
college campuses. Q and A to follow the film.
Wednesday, April 22nd 6pm (Chumash) *Rachel Thomas*, Rachel Thomas is a
survivor and expert on human trafficking and how it affects college
campuses such as Cal Poly.
Thursday, April 23rd All Day! *Denim Day*, we invite everyone to wear denim
on this day. Denim Day stands as a reminder that no matter what a person is
wearing, there is never an excuse nor an invitation for sexual assault.
Saturday, April 25th 11am-2pm (Mission Plaza): *Walk a Mile in Her
Shoes *hosted
by RISE. This is Men's March against sexual assault. This year Cal Poly's
our celebrity walker is President Armstrong!
Thursday, April 30th 10-12pm (UU Plaza) and 5:30-8:30pm (The Jack House):*Take
Back the Night, *is an international event that features protest marches
against sexual violence, memorializes and honors victims, and empowers
survivors and supporters. The final march will be followed by an evening of
poetry, music, food, and a candlelight vigil at the Jack House on 536 Marsh
St. *This is Safer's largest event of the month!*

all colleges for career, summer, internship and co-op positions. All information for the career fair is

* Come to Career Services (Bldg. 124, Room 117) for a Resumes for CENG Students workshop
on Friday, April 3 from 1:10 to 2:00 p.m. to learn how to write an effective resume.
* Come to the Resume Clinic with a printout of your resume to have it reviewed before the career

You could win $10,000!
If you are a student working on a health-related technology that addresses a real clinical need, enter the 2015
BMEidea competition!
BMEidea is the nation's premier competition for biomedical and bioengineering students. Submissions are now
being accepted. The deadline for entries is Friday, April 3, 2015.
Prizes of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 will be awarded to the three winners, at an award ceremony in June
2015.
Entries are judged on:
> technical, economic and regulatory feasibility
> contribution to human health and quality of life
> technological innovation
> potential for commercialization

Attention undergraduates:
There is a biomedical device competition just for you. The BMEstart competition is just like the BMEidea
competition except that it is exclusively for undergraduate students. The deadline for entries is May 22, 2015.
