With approximately 90 million American adults having experienced some form of vestibular disorder, the management of these patients can be challenging but also be among the most rewarding experiences for clinicians. To effectively assess and treat these clients, therapists must have a solid understanding of the anatomy, structure and function of the vestibular system, and utilize evidencebased assessment, treatment and outcome measures in their treatment planning and documentation. Vestibular rehabilitation provides an effective alternative management strategy for patients living with movement and sensory selection impairments, and can significantly reduce the risk of problems related to balance, dizziness and falls. Through an integrated format of lecture, lab, case studies and open discussion, this workshop will provide therapists with the foundation and latest evidence to effectively evaluate and treat common vestibular disorders. Participants will acquire assessment tools to determine if dysfunction or faulty integration may exist within the vestibular, visual or somatosensory systems, along with treatment solutions to improve ADLs and quality of life for clients. This workshop is applicable to clinicians without vestibular experience while maintaining the interest and expanding the clinical skills of the more experienced vestibular rehabilitation clinician.
