VI Encuentro de Profesores de Español de Alberta Spanish Conference - Saturday May 2, 2015 VI Encuentros de Profesores de Español de Alberta The Spanish Conference VI Encuentro de Profesores de Español de Alberta is a professional development opportunity that will provide teachers of Spanish Language and Culture and Spanish Bilingual programs with strategies to support student learning. Break-out sessions include: • Increasing understanding of Spanish language and cultures; • The use of technology to support student learning; • Improving students’ communication skills; • Student engagement strategies; • Assessment for Learning; • Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). This PD opportunity has become a popular gathering for Spanish teachers in the province of Alberta. You will have the opportunity to meet the Spanish advisor and network with many other teachers of Spanish. The event includes the key-note speaker María Jesús Plaza from Mount Royal University and twenty break-out sessions. To date five publishers have confirmed their attendance; there will also be a display of Spanish books sponsored by the leading Spanish publishers. This Conference is possible through the collaboration of the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain in Ottawa with Alberta Education, Mount Royal University, the University of Alberta, Institute for Innovation in Second Languages and Calgary Regional Consortium.
