Did you know that we have a local business that will bring a cardboard collecting container to your business and will set up a collection schedule? Cardboard of any type wastes space in your local dumpster and the landfill. Why not have it recycled and maybe made into something unique. Be part of the change you want to see in Seminole. If you or your business in participating and would like more details about the program, please contact Amy at 405-382-3640 or e-mail her at [email protected]. For starters, not everyone knows tons about social media, let alone how to harness its power for marketing. Whether you’re advertising your website or a real store or service, it’s important to understand how to use social media to your advantage. That’s why we’ve put together this social media marketing for dummies primer. In it we give you the three core tips you need to start becoming an online marketing mogul. 1. Sign Up At As Many Sites As Possible One of the first mistakes new marketers make is confining themselves to one website, such as Twitter or Facebook. To be sure, it’s important to be on both of those sites, but there are many more depending on what kind of product or service that you’re marketing. Sign up for as many social media sites as you possibly can – and actually use them, even if only once a day. You can set up a daily system that forces you to update, even if it’s the same exact thing, at every site that you have a profile at. Within a week or so you will have it down to an art form. 2. Advertise Promotions, Sales, And Anything Related To Your Business To market social media correctly and effectively means that you should be active on social media. It’s not enough just to have accounts. If you’re having a sale or promotion, then post about it. You can even create sales, giveaways, or promotions that are exclusive to social media, as a way to encourage people to follow you. But you don’t just want to advertise yourself all day. That’s a fast way to turn off followers. Include links, polls, or even images that relate to your business. This gives you talking points with your followers, and makes you approachable and sociable. 3. Don’t Be Negative And Don’t Spam This should be in big, bold and red letters. Don’t be negative! Even if you get hateful messages, do not respond to them. Or if you do, be calm and courteous. Negative publicity probably isn’t going to help you. You want to be friendly and engaging. Not angry and rude. Also, don’t spam. “Spamming” is when you flood your followers with advertisements. If you’re having a big promotion going on, limit your posts about it to a couple of times per day: once for the day crowd, and once for the night crowd. By spamming, you’re only annoying your followers, and they may unfollow you. Social media marketing for dummies isn’t hard. It just takes a while to get used to it. Thankfully the steps are pretty easy, so once you get the hang of the basics, you’ll be able to take your marketing to the next level. All it takes is some patience, diligence, and a little charisma to get the most out of social media. Soon enough you’ll be selling your products or services like hotcakes, and all your fans will want to know what’s next.
