Paraffin Wax
The full line of Source Medical Products paraffin waxes is specifically designed for infiltration and/or
embedding in the histology lab. Knowing as we do that every lab has its preferences; we offer a full
array of paraffins to choose from. The Poly-Plast™ line includes three different formulas to provide the
perfect wax to compete against the national brand. Source Medical went one step further and also
developed a premium line of waxes under the brand name Superffin™. We can now provide a paraffin
to meet your exact specifications and requirements. The Superffin™ family of paraffins is a custom
blend of highly purified paraffin and plastic polymers mixed at a ratio ideal for infiltration and
embedding in one (SF007 and SF008 ). All cut cleanly down to 3 microns, they provide excellent tissue
support and wrinkle-free sections even with difficult to cut/brittle tissues.
Superffin™ I (S.SF006) is a custom blend of highly purified paraffin and plastic polymers mixed in a
ratio balance optimal for the complete infiltration of tissue specimens and should be used in conjunction
with the Superffin™ IE (SF007). Melting point 58° to 61° C.
Superffin™ IE (S.SF007 ) is a custom blend of highly purified and plastic
polymers mixed in a ratio balance optimal for infiltration and embedding, therefore
Superffin™ IE can be used as a stand alone single paraffin for both
infiltration and embedding. Melting point 58° to 61° C.
Superffin™ IE (S.SF008) is a custom blend of highly purified and plastic poymers mixed in a ratio
balance optimal for infiltration and embedding. SF008 proprietary blend has a larger ratio of plastic
polymers to assist in applications with hard tissue. It can be used as a stand alone
single paraffin for both infiltration and embedding. Melting point 58° to 61° C.
Poly-Plast 524™ (9209335) is designed for exceptional sections and better tissue
infiltration. Tissue compression is minimized when sectioning. This wax produces
wrinkle free sections even with difficult to cut and brittle tissues. All this together
with a low melting temperature of 52° to 54° C makes this a proper choice for regular
use.
Poly-Plast 568™ (9209336) is for use with tissues that produce infiltration difficulties and large tissue
sections. This is a specially designed formula that includes unique polymers to allow tissue infiltration
33% faster, while also producing excellent distortion free sections. Melting point 56° to 58° C.
Poly-Plast Excel™ (9209337) was specifically designed for ease of use, perfect ribbons and superior
infiltration. With a very low melting temperature of 50° to 52° C this wax is perfect for temperature
sensitive and quality critical tissues. High quality paraffins ensure proper compression resistance
allowing perfect ribbon continuity. Special low viscosity polymers and the addition of DMSO into the
formula mean every tissue is completely infiltrated.

Paraffin Block Transport - 6 Compartments
A transport container made specially for paraffin blocks. Sturdy and easy to use, this
mailer is transparent for easy viewing of contents. It can be used for handling and
shipping up to 6 blocks as needed, while having to keep only one model of block
mailer in inventory. The attached cover is easy to close but very secure when closed.
Suitable for all regular models of tissue and

Paraffin Block Transport Container - 4 Compartments
Made of high density plastic and has four separate compartments for transporting tissue blocks.
Features: Identification numbers and letters on all sides of the block can clearly be read, providing
better organization ▪ Individual cells separate each block for ease in counting

10% Neutral Buffered Formalin is a non-coagulative additive. It is the standard
fixative used in most laboratories and it produces the set of histologic artifacts that
pathologists are trained to interpret professionally. 10% NBF penetrates quickly but
fixes slowly. Our formulation is enhanced by buffering capacity that optimizes
histologic results by light microscopy and immunohistochemistry. Courier-Pak™
boxes offer a convenient distribution package ranging from 16 to 32 bottles,
depending upon the size. All of our high quality prefilled containers are available in Courier-Pak™ boxes.

Xylene and Xylene Substitutes
Xylene is refined to the level most appropriate for histology, cytology and Mohs labs. It is miscible with alcohols and provides excellent
clearing to produce the correct refractive index for mounting media compatible and open processing machines. It is compatible with all
commercial closed and open processing machines. SXS™ and CitraLene™ are clearing agents used to replace xylene in both processing and
staining applications. Both are not neurotoxic like xylene and is environmentally preferable in its usage and disposal. It can usually be
substituted for xylene without any procedural changes being made. SXS™ is aliphatic hydrocarbon based while CitraLene™ is citrus based.
Can be recycled on most commercial xylene recyclers.

Returns on products directly purchased from Source Medical Products.
Product that has not been opened within the last 15 days may be
returned for a 100% credit not including shipping costs. Product
that has shipped to you beyond 15 days but prior to 3 months may
be returned for a 25% restocking fee. We apologize but product
shipped to you after 3 months cannot be returned due to expiration
dating. All returns must be approved by Source Medical Products.
Shipping & Handling
Items that are purchased direct from Source Medical will be
shipped FOB Point of Origin unless other arrangements have been
determined by contract or with your sales representative. Freight
and handling charges will be prepaid and added to your invoice
unless other arrangements have been made.
Many items we manufacture have a Hazardous Material designation
assigned by the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.). These items
have an additional “HAZMAT” charge assigned by certain freight
companies and will be added to your invoice. If you have questions
regarding hazardous materials charges, please contact us.
