While the blues are his touchstone, he draws inspiration from every direction, blending a myriad of influences with ease and grace. Woody Mann received his first musical schooling in the living room of Rev. Gary Davis, the now legendary blues, gospel, and ragtime guitarist. Though Davis died in 1972, his guitar mastery proved to be an indelible influence on his young student and friend. Meet at the top of Colne Valley Road opposite the old Wisdom Factory. Places are limited and available on a first come first served basis. The terrain in some places on the route is uneven and rugged, those that might find it difficult could join the walk at the wild life area off Manor Road. FREE – Book in advance at Haverhill Arts Centre Haverhill Library For sixty years Elizabeth II has met each of her 12 Prime Ministers in a weekly audience at Buckingham Palace. Both parties have an unspoken agreement never to repeat what is said. Not even to their spouses. The Audience breaks this contract of silence – and imagines a series of pivotal meetings between the Downing Street incumbents and their Queen. From Churchill to Cameron, each Prime Minister has used these private conversations as a sounding board and a confessional – sometimes intimate, sometimes explosive. Recorded live from the National Theatre production on Thursday 13 June and shown as live on our cinema screen. In his talk Nick Ellis, the Society Archivist, will both cover the building, life, demise and rebirth of the Colne Valley Railway. Beautifully written, played and produced, this show, in Image Musical Theatre’s immensely popular format, gives the opportunity for everyone to take part. Some children play the rabbits, the ducks and the thieving weasels while the whole audience learns the chorus of four songs. This is family theatre at its very best.
