Section 2. Studies
Students in secondary education: Certificate of studies from your school if you are applying for extension of financial aid
beyond the normal duration of studies. Students in upper secondary school: Certificate showing how many courses and/or
matriculation tests you will take during the autumn/spring term. Students in vocational education: Certificate showing the
period of study and the number of credit units remaining.
Section 5. Applying for the housing supplement
Copy of the rental or right-of-occupancy agreement.
Copy of the rent increase notice.
L Kela receives the details on rental agreements from certain landlords directly in electronic form. In such a case, you do not
have to submit documentation regarding the residential details. Information on these landlords is available on Kela's
website.
Form OT 8. The form is not needed, however, if you have stated under section 5 that you will file a change-of-address notice
(www.muuttoilmoitus.fi). The OT 8 form is also not needed if you are living abroad.
Details on the ownership of the accommodation. Details are needed if you or your spouse or your parents own part of the
accommodation. Details are also needed if one of the aforementioned persons is a shareholder in the firm that acts as
landlord or in the estate that owns the accommodation.
L If the parent or parents owns/own at least 50 per cent, the accommodation is considered as being owned by the parents.
If your or your spouse's share is at least 50 per cent, the accommodation is considered an owner-occupied dwelling. In
this case, you are not entitled to housing supplement. You can claim general housing allowance.
Section 7. Financial aid during the summer months
Students in secondary education: Certificate from your school about the summer studies.
Students pursuing a degree abroad: Certificate from your school showing that the summer studies (if pursued in some other
school) are part of the degree requirements
Section 8. Study abroad
Certificate from the Finnish educational institution about the studies abroad. The certificate must state how the study period
abroad relates to the studies in Finland and the period of exchange studies or period of on-the-job/practical training.

Section 10. Parents
Certificates on both parents' all current income if the income has decreased in total by at least 20 per cent. The certificate
can be e.g. a copy of the pay slip, pension decision or payment notice for unemployment allowance. You may also wish to
provide documentation about specific expenses, such as commuting expenses between home and work and union
membership dues.
