BOBCAT NEWS LYON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CRYSTAL HALL-GOODEN, PRINCIPAL “Failure is not an option and ordinary just won’t do, therefore we’re striving for excellence!” 2020 Roberson Road Lyon, MS 38645 February Students of the Month Zyron Ramsey, Timberlyn Powell, Arniya Harris, Jamylah Luster, Ashanti Winter, Jadia Sykes LaKyrsten Lemon, Zataria Weeks, Kaila Quinn, Terrell Johnson, Garielle Pollard and Jakalyn Allen. (not pictured – Lionel Scott, Samya Howard and Kamarrion harris) Lyon Elementary School sent 9 students to compete in the District Reading Fair. They were Ua’Relaro Smith, Jayden McCool, Birley Gipson, Amariah Myles, Alayna Williams, Aaron Smith, Justin Pollard, K’tariana and K’torian Martinez and Daverius Houston. The first place winners traveled to Delta State to compete in the Regional Reading Fair. They were Jayden McCool, Birley Gipson, Daverius Houston, and Justin Pollard. We are very proud to announce that Jayden McCool won 3rd place in the non‐fiction category. Feb/March 2014 March Students of the Month The Season Finale of the Lyon’s Den was a broadway hit. Each class sang songs or recited poetry. The Lyon Chorus led by Mr. Artis sang Lift Every Voice and Mrs. Johnson’s Ensemble played “Lean on Me”. As each class performed by singing, reciting, and even dancing, we celebrated Black History Month by honoring those before us and those inspiring us now. We are “Looking into the past, educating the present, while preparing the future”. Mrs. Stringer and Mrs. Williams 2nd Grade classes studied ecosystems and brought them to life by making dioramas of the ecosystem they chose. Thank you Coahoma County School District for donating and helping our children with school supplies after the flood. Miss Mona, Mayor Luckett, Queen CCC many others came to read to our and children!
