Come Visit us in Lyon!
Getting in
Beyond our hospital walls is an exciting and culturally-rich
metropolitan area that provides yet another facet to the
educational experience at the Albert Trillat Center. France's
second-largest city behind Paris, the sprawling city of Lyon is
immersed in a rich historical and cultural tradition. Located
at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, this vibrant city is - and always has been - a unique crossroads of
European cultures.
This diversity is reflected in the city’s internationally renowned gastronomic cuisine. Lyon is reputed to be France’s
culinary capital, with its 13 Michelin Starred restaurants and
“bouchons” boasting local specialties.
Its rich history also makes a visit to Lyon worthwhile. The city
is home to the oldest Roman theater in France, where summer concerts and shows are now organized annually. Old
Lyon is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with cobbled streets,
medieval towers and cathedrals, Renaissance architecture
and “traboules”, or secret passages. But don’t just take our
word for it….Come visit us in Lyon. Discover for yourself all
the richness that our city has to offer!

The Fellowship Program
What our Fellows are Saying...
One of the central missions of the Albert Trillat
Center has always been the education, training,
and mentoring of orthopedic surgeons. Under the
direction of Professor Philippe Neyret, our department boasts academic medical programs at every
level, from medical students to chief residents and
from clinical fellows to visiting clinicians from
around the world.
“During my four week stay, I assisted in about 4550 knee arthroplasties, 10 unicompartimental knee
arthroplasties, 12 knee osteotomies (tibial and fermoral), 20 ACL reconstructions, 3 PCL reconstructions, 4 surgeries of patellar instability (MPFL reconstruction, Emslie-Trillat technique), 5 revision knee
arthroplasties in one-time procedures, 20 hip arthroplasties and multiple arthroscopies due to meniscal pathology and condral lesions. In addition,
we did 3-4 long bone nailings and wound debridements. I enjoyed to varied case mixture of the orthopaedic lists and also the interaction with the residents and staff. I was encouraged to participate in
the management of patients…. [The] experiences
have proven to be outstanding for my orthropedic
training. I would not hesitate tyo recommend this
fellowship to anyone interested in knee surgery. As
well as being an awesome centre for learning, the
colleagues of the hospital were welcoming and very
agreeable to work with, and I felt proud to be a part
of their team. On a personal note, Lyon is a remarkable and amazing place to stay.” Andrés Valenti
In this era of quickly evolving medical technology, our
fellowship training program
aims to provide surgeons
with the tools to master the
rigors of clinical training and
to further explore the science of orthopedics. Not
only are fellows exposed to
the latest advancements in orthopedic techniques,
but they are also actively involved in the daily activities of the service: assistance in surgical procedures,
discussions of clinical cases
and a large volume and variety of reconstructive surgical
problems, participation in a
wide range of scientific research and publications,
participation in didactic conferences… During the entire
period of their fellowship and even beyond, they
benefit
from
the
knowledge and expertise of our world-class
faculty of orthopedic
surgeons and professors, all enthusiastic
to teach and share their vast experience.
